The 3 maps sound pretty good, i don't particularly like arena, so im not going to say anything about that. But the DUAL PAYLOAD look awesome, of course we have to hope that valve really has been spending time making sure it is balanced, if you noticed, they changed the sky between the scout update and now, nothing big but its a change. I wonder what else is different between the two.

Onto the weapons. It seems like VALVe is trying to get snipers more into the action, the bow is going to make it very hard to hit people from far away, providing an incentive to being right in the action.

So we know what the Huntsman will replace. But what about Jarate? I sure hope it doesn't replace the Kukri. People are mad enough at Sandman being banned from Meleefort. < /selfish bastard>

Well thanks to the Razorback update, it looks that way. The whole point of melee weapons is that you'll never be left without a means to fight back, right? The last two updates have given non-offense items (Sandvich and Bonk!), so I've reason to belive that Razorback will be a SMG replacement (as was shotgun-Sandvich and Bonk!-9mm).

Eh, seems good. Don't see myself using it though.

Yeah, I don't see myself using the razorback much, losing the close range defense and mobility the smg provides sounds like too much of a loss to be worth it.

I guess this is more of a boon for pubbers who rage at being backstabbed. Of course maybe instead of crying about Spies taking advantage of them while doing nothing but staying scoped in one place for hours on end they should, I don't know, not be terrible Snipers?

Ok, let's see here.

I'm a Spy, strolling by the enemy Sniper deck. I see a Sniper with a huge, impossible-to-miss Razorback on his back. What do I do? I have two options for instant success.

1) Ignore him. He's aiming at something, so there's no consequence for me.
2) Revolver him to death. 2-3 shots should kill him, while he has no fancy SMG to spray my face with. And he's too slow to run.

This is gonna be awesome for Spies.

Do you actually see it? Something about it makes me think a spy won't know about it until he's shocked by it. I mean, if a Spy can see the shield it doesn't matter how fragile and temporary it is... the spy's not going to stab it. (it would be neat if he could sap it, though)

That's what I was thinking too. How dumb would a Spy have to be to knowingly and willingly backstab a Sniper with a huge shield on his back that he knows is going mess him up?

I'd imagine a dumb Spy like that wouldn't even make it out of his own base alive.

1.) The razorback is only good against spies. Valve needs to stop making one class relationship weapons, (razorback, sapper, engi's wrench). In a 9 class game you don't waste a weapon slot for a weapon against just 1 class. What's the sniper gonna do with this weapon against other classes?

2.) It slows you down, which might not seem a big deal due to the fact that snipers stay still while sniping, but a sniper's mobility and ability to do some serious damage with the kukri is his only chance at close range survival which brings to point three.

3.) If does remove your kukri no one would use it since the sniper's melee is his only real close range weapon, smg has very little DPS. Chasing down a spy with the kukri is the only real way the sniper can counter a close range spy.

4.) But a close range spy can kill a sniper in 2 pointblank pistol shots. As A spy I only use the knife on low life class when I have a 100% kill. If a sniper is even a bit out of optimal backstab angle, I use the gun, it's quick, fast, and clean.

5.) But if this does replace the SMG I might use if the other team has a good spy, since the SMG has such a low DPS, it's really only good for peppering the enemy while running at them to get into melee range.

In the end, I TOLD YOU SO. Always expect the worse from Valve. I mean look at them, they made such sexy maps for arena mode, the least played mode in the game. Where's the sense in that?

id be astounded if this were to replace the melee weapon...so ill assume its replacing the smg

1st...the smg is basically garbage, the kukri is much more useful

so...giving up the smg in exchange for a backstab shield = improvement
but, the shield also slows you down, which significantly reduces the effectiveness of the kukri

the only time I could see this being useful is in situations where the sniper was staying far in the back, doing well enough to warrant spies coming after them, and in a place where the spy wouldn't instantly be killed by the snipers team. Which of course is a very standard situation for most snipers. I personally will likely rarely use it...

Did you even read a word that I wrote? How about you prove my points wrong? Right now, it's a more gimmicky and useless weapon then the sandvich. It only counters one class, and that one class can bypass that counter. How can it even be hypothetically good?
