I think I might join this time, but I've got some stuff to do, so I won't have as much time. Let's see how far I make it!

Once you start, and do tell us if its any differing time then the OP, make something in 72 hrs related to TF2.
It needs to be something feasable and visible, text and writing counts as does maps, SFM animations or posters, or anything TF2 content related!
Once its created, go to the downloads section, and create a new download.
Not sure where but @LeSwordfish can correct me if I skipped a step.
So, all I do is start making things at the time the Jam starts? How do people know I'm entering? Is there a forum I post in when it starts to say, "Hey, guys, I'm in!"

And, does the thing have to be completely done by the end of the Jam to count? I have a map I wanna make, but with all the detail I have planned, doing everything past the layout and some visuals will take more than 72 hours.

1. There will be a submission forum, but you also need to label your map with the special 72hr tag instead of the gameplay ones. (I think i'm not sure if that's a requirement)
2. By no means does it need to be anywere near RC (release candidate like final copy), but it does need to be playable. There will be MANY tests for maps running during the jam.
3. Just look at the starting time, and start when it says too, and then submit what you have when its done. Dont cheat, that just ruins the spirit. You can also live stream or record your adventures of no sleep.

I'm probably gonna sleep, cuz I'm 17 and my parents wouldn't be cool with me staying up for three days. My mom is already pissed enough that I'm on the computer so much (Even though I go above and beyond with chores and remain relatively fit).

You should still get pretty far even with reduced time. Use the free time off computer to plan on a paper or something.

Dave's on the money with most of this post, but I should note that the 72hr tag IS a requirement - thats how we know what you've posted is an entry!

You are just like me one year ago :)

I think I'll stick to official time even though it is same time than Hungarian GP because I don't have free time before it anyway. Also playtest and feedback is huge

How terrible of a problem will it be if I work 1-3 days after the official time?

How to submit a project

please choose the category that best fits your submission - whether it's a map, model, texture, or something not requiring a downloadable file (in which case you should use Other Resources).

This is exactly how you should submit your entry, but please choose the category that best fits your submission - whether it's a map, model, texture, or something not requiring a downloadable file (in which case you should use Other Resources).

So, if you work after the official time, you'll still get all the medals, you'll probably still enjoy the community spirit, and whatever you'll do will be done - you've still achieved what you hoped.

However, you'll be too late to be shown off in the showcase post, and too late to take part in the exhibition game. It might also be difficult to get a test, since people tend to be a little burnt out immediately afterward.

Hey, is it okay if i start like... a few hours early? Like 3-4 maybe, depending on how long i have to work. I probably won't be able to do much on Monday, and i really shouldn't pull some allnighters, so this would give me a bit more time.

It's obviously not a problem if that's not possible, i can put in more time after the jam ended, but i want to look it as good as i possibly can manage within the time frame.
