[WIP] Pl_Alpine (Update #3)

Pl_Alpine


Well ok this is my second map and i thought i would take a stab at this new alpine theme.

I hadnt see any PL maps with the alpine theme so i thought i would make one.

Layouts pretty simple, there are 3 caps.

Hey guys, iv updated the log holding place, known as "The Lean"

The whole place is split into diffrent places accesable by Demos, Scouts and Soldiers.
There are also some good sentry spots in this bit.

I want the red to have a chance, this CP that everything lays around is a major one.

Ok guys i think im close to finishing the main layout/look of the maps.

Iv finished the end point, and the final CP. So here it is.

Also in the 3rd CP i have add something to help break up the "Turtling" of health packs. A train carrying logs will be bursting thu the tunnel every 10-30 secs. Direcly on the tracks lies a Full heath pack. Enough of me talking about it here it is in motion, plus the final exsplotion. (excuse the custom sound pack):thumbup1:

The sound is a bit glitchy but ill be fixing that!

Well guys iv been REALLY "bizzy" with school work and such. So i havent been able to work on the map as much as i would like but you know!!!!!! Iv been maping recently with all the helpfull suggestions by grazr. They really helped!! Anyway enough of the "Chit-Chat" here are some images, keep in mind that these photos are very beta, there WILL be more detail added.

Ok iv redesgined the log holding place. Now there is several alternate paths the players can choose. One of these is a building that leads to the catwalk across the buildings.

Another path the player can choose is one that leads the player straight to the new building thats been added.

Also new to this update is the new alt path the player can choose to go at the new 2nd path (there are now 5, including the start point).

And thats about it for now. Sorry for the long break, like i sead school stuff has gotten in the way. Thanks again to grazr that helped me out with most of the new improvment designs in my map.

looks very nice. but something's eating away at me. why is there a log leaning against the building like that? who would do that?

Well you cant see it but, inside that building that the log is leaning on is a cart full of wood. The track that the bomb cart rides on is split into a sperate track that leads into this building. This give the idea that the red team are logging the forest. They use the track as a easyier way of transport for there cut down trees. Maybe the Blu team caught the Red team off guard. Maybe some unfinished log hauling. IDK really. Why is there a log wedged between two rocks on Arena_Lumberyard?:WOOT:

Yeah, I vote take it out. Maybe put some crates there in its place if you are intending for it to provide roof access.

That's random in the sense that it doesn't have a purpose, but my line of thinking for your log was that you would have to have a crane to position that log like you have it, and then you have to ask yourself why a crane would position a log like that.

Or if you want quick access to the roof, similar to the log, just add some stairs. I've seen buildings with stairs to the roof before. Might encourage adding more detail up there as well, since detailed rooftops can really add depth and beauty to a map if they're accessible.

From the 1 screenshot of the inside of the building, you could use some more detail in there. Props, nice lighting, and things like that. The outside of your buildings could use some additional detail as well. They look great, but some electric lines, poles, junction boxes, cattle heads, etc will really polish them off.

Also, you might want to add some vegetation around your rock wall to break it up a bit. Throwing a bit of plant life in some of the cracks and an occasional pine tree close to it will break it up nicely. Not sure if you can do overlays/decals on displacements, but you might want to try making a few varieties of "moss" overlays to use on the rock wall. Could make it look really cool if done right.

I agree, that log looks a little weird and nobody would place it like this in the real world so better remove it or just place it on the ground.

Thanks guys for the feedback. I wanted the roof to be accesable by all classes, i used the log because it requires no jumping.

All these suggestions are great, what im going to do is make a randition of each one of your ideas (and some of my own) and see how they look and feel. Then ill let you guys decide on what goes into the final product. Seem fare?
