Personally I'm a bit surprised to see that Valve hasn't purchased this map yet. The detailing and gameplay flow are fantastic. It feels like it could easily be a stock map.

You really have a gift for world design. I'm interested in seeing what you come up with for whatever game you end up mapping for when you're done with TF2.

Oh predictor of the future, please tell us,
when will we get new weapons?

Long time coming. I've always loved both the aesthetic and gameplay on this map. Congrats. :)

Congrats. An obvious choice and one of the best they could make.

Congrats! This map has some of the best Alpine theming in the game!

But seriously, nice job. Considering how well it's doing now, I'm surprised this map wasn't added earlier.

So, this came up in the "prettiest maps" thread and I have to say I agree with it.

The problem with the trees is easy to fix: It's that there's not enough shading on them. The way you have them set up makes natural lighting not affect them realistically enough. Thing is, this happens all the time; look at a lot of official props and you'll see that they have so much baked-in lighting — not even just AO bake but stuff like darkened undersides and slightly darkened sides — that they look almost properly lit even in Hammer. (The dump truck is an especially good example of this.)

Somebody posted some autumn-themed edits of the Borneo tree a while back, and I mistook it for a "which one of these looks best?" post initially because one of them had way more contrast between the upper and lower leaves and looked so much better. Can't seem to find the post anymore; maybe the person who posted it is reading this and can link to it?

The amount of texture space you'd need for each model to bake in their lighting on the leaves would be impractical in tf2 with the amount of potato computers out there.

The amount of texture space you'd need for each model to bake in their lighting on the leaves would be close to unfeasible in tf2 with the amount of potato computers out there.
It's not even that. Each individual cluster of leaves (which I'll assume is a particle) is just completely flat. If they got darker near the bottom they would look much nicer.

Plane or more, not a particle.

Particles in TF2 are explosions, rain, snow, that whirly light on the top of the payload.

... not tree leaves.

(Or I just misunderstood you)

I'm just talking about updating the existing texture so that the leaf clusters get darker as they get further down. Unless we're looking at some radical edge case like them being lit from underneath, they should all look more like real physical trees.

Sorry to post an unrelated question gentlemen, but I have a question: what is the name of the sky texture used in this map? I really like it and I think it would fit well in my Yucatan map.
If it's custom, do I have permission to use it, provided I credit the author like I always do when using someone else's custom items.

The skybox should be included in the assets download in the first post of this topic.
