An achievement item would be the laziest way, seeing as anyone can hack an achievement. Lets hope it isn't that way.

Yup, the one thing I don't know is if it is through some sort of API/website... r through TF2... or do I send the list to Valve... these are the things I'm waiting on.

The way we did it with the swamp community weapons is I got everyone's Steam profile page and emailed it off to Robin, like he asked. This is a considerable amount more profiles (~50-100 compared to our paltry 13), but I imagine it would be similar.

I assumed to would be like the wiki caps and KK hardhats, with them being given out directly by the communities without Valve's constant help.

Just finished talking with Valve, the medals item definition will be added to the game within the next few days, and distribution will begin sometime next week.

The first round will be ~60 medallions going out.
