I have a good reason to bump this: Some update in the game has broken the endgame whale. Instead of vaulting smoothly over the whole stage like he used to, he does backflips.

This seems to be an issue with func_tracktrain, or whatever's being used here, in general now; King of the Train has a similar problem, with the train parts rotating independently of the track.

This bump reminds me how much i miss this map.
You should hand out the project to someone else if you don't want to finish it DBP, it is amazingly fun map and deserves to be finished.

You have no idea how hard it is to finish. There is very little you can do that isn't in the first two stages

You should make the last stage like a log-ride type thing, with very close sides. and then make it climb a mountain and go off the edge of a cliff into the ocean, blocking the other team's whale, killing them all!

Let me see... first stage: Two whales in the same stream racing side-by-side. Second stage: Two whales in two separate streams separated by a strip of land, also racing side-by-side.

I realize the limitations imposed by being in water, but is the map bound to some restriction of every stage having to be parallel for "realism" purposes? Because if not, there's this just off the top of my head:

(There's a term for this kind of geographical formation, but I don't remember what it is.)

make it circlejerk gamemode.

a moat around a castle/piece of land with 2 whales in it on opposite ends going into the same direction. they have whale poison/a bomb/something deadly in their mouth. when you hit the other team's whale, you win. [inspired by steve's pic a lot]

put me in coach.

That actually sounds like a lot of fun!

other than that, think about the hell the entity setup would put you through. I get chills just thinking about it!

func_door (and penguin?) made a circlejerk map with working entities and all. it played well enough.

Damn you, Ravage, I had to go back and look at my version to see if I had messed up. Trollface indeed.
