It sounds like we'll just leave them off unless someone requests them for their map.

Nobody complained about this until we said that the settings were "like this" so people can't really have that many ants in their pants about it. Otherwise it'd have been brought up sooner and with more pitch forks and torches.

For the sake of full disclosure you might want to add a little blerb to gameday threads giving people the current server configs. IE

Current Server Settings: Crits: off Damage Spread: off Intel Crits: off

If you wish to test your map with diffident settings please make a note of it in your post.

I don't see a reason to have crits on. Yeah maybe that TOTAL AWESOME CROCKET KILL was fun, but it isn't really fair. does crits off have a negative effect on anyone?

I brought it up ages ago and complained but never pursued it further because I knew it wouldn't change back once it had been put this way. I personally find the game far more enjoyable when there are cases of immediate turnaround at random that both teams need to react to. I quite honestly never have fun on our servers anymore.

The decision seems to be "leave it how it is" simply because nobody bothered making a thread beforehand and the poll is a 50/50 split. I can use that for the other side of the argument as well. Since the poll IS a split, it can't be used to say the stuff should be off. Nobody made a thread requesting them be turned off, and we always used to maintain that the servers would be valve-default and stay that way. The question is, why did it change in the first place? Was it a leftover from the CTF contest? It couldn't have been that, because I was maintaining map-specific configs that turned them off ONLY for the contest maps. So it seems someone arbitrarily decided it should be changed and slipped it into the configs.

Well it might have something to do with some admins preference to leave crits, etc, off.

Funny how almost all the admins that have voted want no crits and and server has stayed on well no crits etc. Well this is fine because well we gave you control of it and you can do dam well what you please even if its spiting in the face of the other half of the community.

However, what really is pissing me off is the lack of ANY discloser about the server configs. Is is really that hard to add one simple line about what the current config is or do you not like the feeling of relinquishing control over to others? If not I really don't see whats hold you guys back other then your dislike of crits.

Surely the default of the server should be Valve defaults (ie crits+spread)? And then if someone wants to test their map under slightly more controlled conditions, ask specifically for them to be turned off for their map?

I don't think I've ever seen people complain that the server has crits on under fun pub conditions, bar the occasional "FUCKING CRITWRENCH!" from me.


Also, if it IS going to stay nocrit, i'd like to have the easy option of turning crits/spread whatever on when my maps are being played, even if it's just an extra line in the gameday signup box.

Half-Half. That's what most people would consider a deadlock, where neither side would have any more swaying power over the other. So don't get mad when we don't cater to your personal preferences.

For clarification, these are the current server settings:
Random Crits: Off
Bullet Spread: On (Vanilla)
Damage Spread: On (Vanilla)
CTF Crits: 10secs (Vanilla)

It's been like this since we got new servers a couple of months ago.

I think TPG is mostly mad that (1) it was apparently changed without asking and (2) the side of the stalemate we're apparently choosing is also the side most the admins prefer. It makes it appear as though nothing is being done because the admins all feel the same way.

I'm not sure I care anymore. I discovered that if I turn on crits for my map there are multiple people whose critiques would be dirtied with worrying about crits. It's really disappointing, actually.

It was already decided. You're an oldey around here, I'm sure you are aware that the past consensus was "valve default" and even though some people preferred it otherwise they understood why and accepted the reasoning for having it.

Just feel like pointing out, going exclusively on the votes, there are now 28 people that want crits off, there are 37 people that want them on. Curious why the vote is still being called a deadlock...

Hey so since the arguments against crits were pretty foolish and the majority of the community wanted them turned back on, why haven't we turned them back on yet?

I want crits on. Most pub servers play with crits so there is no reason to not play with crits. Testing again is always an option if you think crits swayed the tide of a map, and if you're really picky, give donators the ability to turn crits off at mapper request.

A 41 to 29 vote to turn crits on is not a stalemate.

I'm willing to pass another vote. This poll's been open for a while and active community members and even admins have changed around.

If someone creates a new poll and there is a discernable difference i'm willing to change over to crit and spread on the server. But i stand by Nines post on the first page.
