The one thing I wanted to know about map making was how to get the various kinds of symmetry in the map, but never figured out how. Probably something to do with copying half a map, pasting and flipping?

Anyone know?

Yeah, that's how you do it.

For more precise, odd shapes, I place watchtowers starting at the middle of the map, then put them in lines going outward, mirroring them. Once I have them set up, I use them for reference (like how big certain spaces are and whatnot).

Thing is: Copying terrain is still quite iffy because the selection isn't snapped to grid, although the paste function does do that. Sometimes makes it hard to tell if you extended the region far enough to copy all spaces you wanted or not. Minor nuisance though.

I haven't tried, but I wonder if you can just make a map roughly half the size of the map you intend to make and just do everything in there, select all, copy/paste into a new map? Anyone know if that works?

So I won all my Placement Matches by scouting the 6 pool bullsh** my opponents were doing every time easily enough. Then found myself placed in the Diamond League. Great. I think I'm OK, but not as good as the guys who make it in here are going to be once things get settled. I envision loss after loss after loss. Help!

Trotim's right. I believe if you lose five consecutive matches after joining a new league you get bumped down.

Yea, 50% of my games were won because my opponent DC'd which threw me straight into the gold league. Hopefully that's not a bad thing though because i'm still fighting my way up the ladder (10th place from 52nd). The reason i probably didn't get put into the diamond/platinum league was because i lost a good quarter of my placement matches to void ray rushes.

Yeah. Never play on patch day, folks.

I tried some custom games this morning (Shrink TD or something and something called like Fortress Fight or so) and, well, SC2's future is looking bright. Even though I could only play that TD for like 5 minutes before it kicked us all, it was still great fun and immediately reminded me of the great WC3 custom maps.

Well i added these accounts, just waiting for confirmation. FYI they need to be battlenet email accounts. Not just an email account (i know people have several email accounts).

I tried adding Nova today, and he added back, but neither of us got confirmation windows to accept. Not sure what's going on there..
