I have this awkward shadow casting which I can't seem to get rid of.

It's because the angled brush where the lightmap splits is a func_detail
Lightmaps don't stitch between world brushes and func_details (thats why that back left one is brighter too)

some of your options are:
  • make the shadow cover more of the func_detail
  • func_detail some of the wall that has shadow on it
  • increase lightmap scale
  • or just make it a world brush

I have been working on a proper Finale Contest entry which will hopefully be ready before I lose interest. When I finish this I would like to continue working on Badfish, hopefully I'll be able to finish it before I or Valve give up on TF2 entirely.

I've been working on modern japanese buildings based on some photos of tokyo for the past couple days. I might turn it into a larger detailing project when I come back from vacations. I use one of fuzzy's great texture and a couple koth_king props for now.

Good point yeah, thanks for pointing it out. For now i'm working with the hong kong props, which do visually what I need. If I expand on this i'll end up making my own urban signs with japanese characters. Im keeping it to hammer rn, but hopefully I can make cool stuff that fits the theme.

updated some textures, considering coming up with a better name for the map then "nothing" D:
