The "I just got a hat" celebration thread

I don't have a new hat yet ... but my brother just "found" a Backbiter's Billycock a couple days ago. He already has a Soldier's Stash, Camera Beard, and Fancy Fedora. All I have is Ritzy Rick's Hair Fixative (the hatless sniper) that I found a while ago, back when idling was the #1 way to get hats. :[

Is it entirely up to luck who ends up getting repeated hat drops and who doesn't? I just notice that some people (not necessarily all here on TF2Maps) report finding numerous as separate random drops whereas many have found none or only one or two ... it's those few who repeatedly find hats that make me wonder if it's all luck (I still expect it is).

While I haven't really gotten a hat randomly, I did craft my first hat yesterday. I got a lousy Surgeon's Preparation Mask.

I too did my first bit of crafting yesterday, the outcome of which was also lousy. I got a trophy belt. Probably one of my least wanted hats. Would be really nice to be able to influence hat class without having to save up enough junk to make another bit of refined metal and a class token.

Oh well, at least it's another hat. :l

i can finally post in this thread! just crafted the soldiers stash. not the coolest soldier hat but its a soldier hat so i love it! how is it ive gotten enough stuff to craft a hat but never been dropped a hat?

That's one of the ones I'd sort of like ... not my most-wanted, but it's ridiculous enough to be moderately desirable to me.

Kind of off-topic, but I can't help but ask as it's been in my mind since the last new-hat update ... does "Safe'n'sounds" sound to anyone else like something you might find in one of Spore's editors?
