I get the feeling the update's gonna roll out at least twice: once right before the Steam sale (ergo, tomorrow), and then again right before it ends.

Nah, tf2 will just go down for a few hours while everyone is trying to download the update and mvm is going to be down for weeks because out of a sudden valve wants to use those servers for dota rather than the new mvm tour (random guess). Oh, and ofcourse they have updated the localization files... which in fact are the most important part of the update!
