So far, i can count a lot of flaws that are really dumb. My favorite is the fact that sentries are not destroyed during the melee only curse. We also had a round where everyone bugged out, became civilians, and once a team capped, the server crashed.

The map choice is horrible - for lack of better words. Minisentries on doomsday are worse than any conflict you could find on a map where you can kill either the boss or the enemies who are also focused on the boss.

The bumpercars are pretty darn hard to maneuver, and because it's so fast paced, i feel like this leads to a general meta that says "ram back and forth and hope you hit something". Why not bring the skill based gameplay from regular tf2 into halloween events as well?

Impression so far: Meh.

Lots of cool new assets for us to abuse tho :>


Edit: The god damn parachute spell. It's useless, takes a ton of time to use, and you can't get rid of it in other ways than using it.

Edit 2: I have no idea what "slight advantage" the winning team gets in the bumpercar race. I have even less of an idea what makes a team win the duck thingy"

Melee in 3rd person is not very fun (even less with minis spamming you as merasmus talks)

Should be noted that the civilians bug has soe far (as far as I know) only reported on OUR server. Not too sure whats up with that.

be sure to try out other servers before complaining about the update.

(EDIT: I'm close to Bumper Cars)

I experienced it on another server, upon map change.

I'm not upset or anything, I'm actually ecstatic that Valve's finally made a real sports-type map that's fully hardcoded.

Much to Beetle's despair, I don't think I'll be working this into any new Pipeball, though. Something entirely different, however, is what really gets the gears in my head spinning

I'm just a bit mad some of these assets suffer from viaduct syndrome. Such as the carnival type roofs being all grouped together, they aren't textures so you can't make them custom. Speaking of that there's only 2 usable textures from all of this which is surprising. Some are decent for actual mapping purposes but then there are those that are so ingrained in Halloween I couldn't see them being used outside that realm. More interested as to how this is all coded than anything. I wish they textured the carnival rides outside the map so they aren't restricted to night time now. They also look massively over-scaled, I know it adds to some kind of immersion but eh they look a bit too big.

Also I agree doomsday might not have been the best and they could have probably taken a stab at making another map for this. I'm glad that they learned the lesson of having merasmus teleport everyone to the middle then proceed with pyros and heavies mowing down everyone. The space apart is an improvement.

The problem with minisentries on Doomsday isn't Doomsday's fault. It's the fact that minisentries continue to exist at all. No amount of tweaking could get them to be useful yet tolerable on any KOTH map either.

And it really bugs me that they couldn't retheme the whole map to look like a carnival. It's not quite as hilariously cheap as the rush job they did on Helltower, but it's certainly no Ghost Fort either.

You can cancel the parachute midway through by jumping, and it can be useful as a recovery move if you don't have your charge saved.

The losing team starts with 66% damage I believe. Though given that players can easily take 200%+ damage before reaching decent knockback, it's kind of a nothing.

You probably have to fix your HUD for the duck game, the scoreboard for it and the soccer doesn't show up until you do.
