I've played hundreds of games on hoodoo, over many many different servers, I've never once seen this happen, I can only assume the red team are able to stand next to the shed preventing the blu team from pushing the cart all the way in. (all the way in means the door is closed again, if the door hasn't closed you've not pushed it far enough)

Fair enough. Just telling you why we took it off the server.

I've found out what was going on with it moving back to the home cp as it caps the last, and fixed it. If that has fixed the other problem I can't tell since I've no way of emulating the problem to see if it has fixed it, I can only hope that it has.

Added in the bumper model and this is what it looks like ingame - http://www.flickr.com/photos/28746141@N08/2896525956/

That bumper looks really nice, Youme! I made a couple of bumpers out of brushes for my map and they look like crap. Are you going to upload yours for public use?

Once hoodoo is finalised I'll probably make a big pack of all the custom stuff I used in it and make that public.
(And snipergen made it not me, give credit where credit is due!)

any word on whether you plan on making it any easier on defense or is it to far gone to make changes like that?

Yeah, it'd be nice if the cart moved at the same speed as dustbowl.

i had the chance to play hoodoo the last two days and have to say chapeaux, chapeaux...
great work

i like that the first 2 stages are pro-blu, unlike the pl modifaction on dustbowl where its massively hard to get beyond the 1st stage

the only downside for me personally is the last stage, which feels a little short, kind of only half a stage, which doesnt give red the chance to play down the load of time blu has left on the clock.
otherwise, astounding feeling and atmosphere

Been doing some more work on this, created and fixed (after much panic and worry) a pretty hefty crash that would occur at the start of stage three if the cart was pushed forwards about 1 unit then allowed to roll backwards (In _b2 if you do this it floats.... try it ;))

Also, for those of you that don't listen to control point regularly/at all, they're a pretty popular TF2 based podcast and last week's episode which was actually recorded about a month ago featured a brief mention of hoodoo, Colt Seavers cut the small section out for me - Click me to listen
The one that was recorded on sunday and released in the last few days (I listened live) had them mention hoodoo again - Click me again for full podcast

/me wonders if they'll do an episode about it like they did for steel........

Being a n00b as well as someone who feels overwhelmed at the 37 pages (-_-) to see if this question has been mentioned:

Can you do anything to tone down the map size? It pushes a lot of people away from my clans custom server because it is the single biggest map we have.

I know next to nothing about bzipping but I had to download b2 and it took quite a while compared to other custom maps. Just looking in my bsp folder it holds the record size @ 93.3 MB, while second place is 14 MB less @ 79.5 MB

Also I 2nd the camera activation being relevent to whatever round the game is on rather than viewing 3rd stage cameras while starting the game.

while bziped its only 40 mb. 40 seconds on a good fast download server

I made a post about 10 or so pages back (so I'll forgive you for not finding it) where basicly I said "If you're running a server without the fast download bz2 stuff set up you're insane." My reasoning for this is what awesme-o said, the map is less than half the size when its in a bz2 making it much faster to download.
I know its a bad attitude to have but I'm not really concerned if it doesn't get played due to filesize, its been played and enjoyed enough to have already been worth my time doing it, any further play is just a bonus really.
Having said that I do try to optamise as best I can.

I sorted spectator points out yesterday, many more of them and they're only active in the right rounds

Its pronounced you me, just how they did when they remembered what it was.

Kudos for this. This is exactly the attitude mappers should have. During beta stages this can suck, which is why fewer betas (or closed testing of some betas) are a good idea for giant maps. However once a map goes final that's a single download that should take everyone under 2 minutes with a decent fast download server and the person never has to download it again. Good maps will get played on custom map servers and have the potential of being one of the Valve releases which negates the file size entirely. Other than betas the only time file size is an issue is when the mapper has done absolutely no optimizations or has a huge file size for a mediocre map.

christ...its like you people have no concept of actual download speeds...
the average person with high speed internet gets about 550kb/s max...there are very few servers that can even reach that extent. For a server owned by a private user expect something like 100-400kb/s. So...its like a 2min download minimum
You shouldn't assume everyone has some kind of epic google/ valve quality servers...

So...please don't say someone has a bad server when for all intensive purposes they don't...I just find that annoying

but yeah...if everything is set up correctly, expect something like 2-6mins for this map, im somewhere around 3

and really, if I am going to be playing on a custom maps server, I expect to wait for maps that I do not already have.

Yall are just bitches, suck that shit up and download it, christ

When a map's far along in dev like this one, you'll have to dl a new version, what, every month? Even less often? Honest to god... it's fuckin free content

Ditto. If Youme can devote months from his life to make something...I can take a few minutes to download it. Grab a coke, take a piss (not in that order), and it will be downloaded and ready to enjoy!

i believe I agreed a few pages back that the quality is more then worth the delay, I simply got tired of all the "quality server" "less then a minute" type crap

...don't you just love that the longer a thread is the more off topic it gets :p
