If you would actually check out the downloads/models thing, you'd notice that there is in fact a full version.

That depends on what he means by full. The boat is actually 2 models and one is a skybox scale model (the boat sat at the edge of the playable area in my map.) also all the parts of the ship that are covered by the snow terrain mesh don't exist so the boat has big holes in it if you wanted to use it for any purpose other than being covered by snow.

Anyone is welcome to modify / add to it. If you want an .obj or .psd files send me an email

After toying around with the particles some more, I think a model with an animated translucent texture would be a lot more efficient and beautiful than the Aurora particles I have made.

I am going to see if I can model an Aurora

Tried making an aurora thing myself because why not. Result:

Yeah, the model and texture are not good. I personaly like the effect tho. Here is the .vmt, I'm not going to make a full thing myself anyways. Feel free to use for whatever.

Code:
"VertexlitGeneric"
{
	"$baseTexture" "models/props_arctic/aurora/aurora1a"
	"$color2" "[ 5 6 5 ]"
	//"$translucent" "1"
	"$additive" "1"
	//"$bumpmap" "models/effects/flat_normal"
	//"$lightwarptexture" "models/player/pyro/pyro_lightwarp"

	"$phong" "1"
	"$phongexponent" "2"
	"$phongboost" ".1"
	"$phongfresnelranges"	"[.4 .6 .4]"
	"$phongtint"		"[.2 .5 .2]"
	"$halflambert" "0"

	// Rim lighting parameters
	"$rimlight" "1" // To enable rim lighting (requires phong)
	"$rimlightexponent" "2" // Exponent for phong component of rim lighting
	"$rimlightboost" "10"
	"$selfillumfresnel" "90"

	"$selfillumfresnelminmaxexp" "[0 1 1]"
	"$selfillum" "1"

	"$selfillumtint" "[-0.3 -0.3 -0.3]"
	"$selfillumtint_base" "[0.5 0.5 0.5]"
	"$shield_falloff" 0.0
}

And the .vtf as a .png because i gues that's kinda important?

Oh oh! I have some sounds from my snowy L4D2 map. I'll see if I can pack em.

The thing I am going to do, is probably make some flat panels with the texture of my aurora particles. That way I can create the effect without having to worry about particle counts.

I would just need someone who has experience setting up models for source and all that stuff to help me translate an animated vtf to a model. Because I dont know enough about modeling to make one from scratch.

Even better, a model can be animated.

Do animated skybox textures work? I feel like that would be best for an aurora
The skybox texture itself cant, as far as I know. But you can simply put a brush in the 3D skybox with the animated texture on it.

The 2D skybox is special since it is positioned at a fixed position relative to the camera.

Model doesnt have to be anything fancy, all the animated vtf stuff is the actual vtf and vmt. If you do need help with it let me know, I'll be glad to set it up for you.

All these models and textures are amazing, is there a place to download the current made ones?

Not yet, we're still waiting on a final release date on this which will include all the stuff in one big pack.

Somebody should make a model of each of the classes frozen in an ice cube.
(like those old shows where cavemen were frozen in ice)

I believe you could just take a already existing model in Hammer and stick it in transparent ice. But then there is the problem of it staying in the Civilian pose.

Also, requesting Transparent Ice.
