Blizzard - Contest map by PyroDevil and KubeKing

Blizzard is a 2 stage control point map for the dynamic control point contest. KubeKing worked on Stage 1 while i worked on Stage 2. It seems to have snowed quite a bit here.

Hey, wuzzup :)

Yep, @PyroDevil and I are collab'ing on this one. If you have anything to say about the map, feel free to address one or both of us, just keep in mind that @PyroDevil is working on the first stage while I'm working on the (unfinished) second stage.

Isn't that third screenie ctf_anchor?
Not exactly. ctf_anchor wasn't doing so well, but the bridge at mid looked like it could work for a/d map. So, I took took only that and redid the area around it to better fit a a/d map

Note to self (to us): change geometry significantly enough before submitting to contest. Not that that wouldn't happen already.

Did you copy from the VMF or did you just rebuild it by hand?
I think its cheating to reuse parts of a map, via copy paste but im unsure so dont get salty if im wrong.

New update, hopefully this fixed some of the problems.

-increased distance between A and B
-changed layout of red's building a bit
-fixed red respawn times
-fixed red supply locker
-changed red's spawn
-players are no longer able to shoot into blu's set up area
-changed route past A to be one way only
-changed sizes of some ammo pick ups
-fixed red's upper spawn door
-changed point A a bit

Wait, how did you get the cap decay rate to be so fast on the last point?
Instead of using the normal trigger_capture_area, I used trigger_timer_door, the same type used for the mannhattan control points. This one has a few differences from the former.
  • The entity must be tied to a door, or no one will be able to capture it
  • The time to cap automatically control the speed of the door
  • The cap decay rate is the same as the capture rate
  • There is not delay to the cap decay
  • The point captures at the same rate, regardless the number of players who stand on the point. ( I have tested this)

New update to Stage 2
- Changed Red Spawn
- Removed Blu's Forward Spawn
- Changed Molten Steel texture
- Increased Cap time for B to 9 seconds
- Minor detailing to help with navigation
- A few more arrows
- Fixed people getting stuck in World Geometry when riding the train.
