I think if it was to be koth the point could use a bit more cover. Not going to lie whenever I play coldfront I don't touch mid because it's suicide. One is, however, rewarded with a nice bit of scenery for the deathcam.

Given it's a koth map todays test felt very linear. Capping the point meant players tended to advance on the doors of the base and even towards the actual spawn doors when given the chance after a successful wipe of the enemy team. I actually had to think about not spawn camping after each capture because i felt bad about advancing; because i knew that would result in my camping the enemy spawn.

I kinda felt that it needed a side route as well. It was the same for stark even, there was no real flanking oppotunities. Since it's not 5cp i think you might afford this, as it's a very small map where even the height difference is limited to jumping down into the middle from one flank. As it is it's not a very interesting KoTH layout.

Look at the rocks. You can see them fade in as you walk out of this hall. It's a very minor issue, but still.

I think that's acceptable. I actually used that route 90% of the time and never even noticed. You want small details like that to fade in at close distances. Take the tracks in goldrush stage 2 for example. They only render at about 512 units distance, right in front of the player. But players never notice because they're paying attention to other players, doors and windows for ambushes and oppotunities.

This map has the same problem as stark with being very liner and flat. However, this has the added problem of spawn camping! In stark the spawns are pushed far back and its really hard to flank the enemy and camp. However, with the side path that strangemodule has pictured a demo can easily camp the spam from the side room as I demonstrated today.

Valve aren't that interested in custom koth/arena anymore.

You could probably get one in the game if it had a ton of custom content, though. Like 3DNJ's koth_king map thing.

I'd beg to differ on the Koth part. I'm pretty sure they'd accept more koth maps even if they were not new themes.

Remind me again why the CP version is in the game but this isn't?

CP came first, koth came out after or around release of the CP version (and Koth was made per-request by the community)
