It's that time again! Alas, these posts still don't involve pie :( As I'm sure the more astute of you have noticed, our mighty webmasters have installed a handy Contest Timer at the top of the page. But don't let the number of days showing make you complacent. In actuality, we have 2.5 months left, give or take. With that in mind, I'm giving another shameless reminder that all users can create their own events; Events Forum Just make sure you allow enough time for moderator approval :) You can ask the donors and/or mods to upload maps for you, but they have absolutely no obligation. Or just show a little support and get VIP Status Please bug drpepper to change the 1-month limit ;) He's just being lazy, lol. On a less serious note, we appear to have been over-run with hats.

Second order of business. As promised, I have been keeping tabs on the contest, and thinking about having an extension. Before I do that however, I would like everyone to remember a few things. For all of the fun, this contest is very much a commitment, and requires considerable effort on your part :eek:hmy: If you have just been putting it off, or you open Hammer with no serious determination, then having an extension won't do you any good. Also take into account that PLR and assault-CTF are pretty much new to everyone. There is a good discussion regarding pros/cons of the latter here; http://forums.tf2maps.net/showthread.php?t=7611 The design philosophy for both modes is quite different from the norm, and getting your head around them takes time. Just keep all this in mind when I finally do make an extension poll ;) (probly mid-July).

Btw, I'm trying to make these posts bullet-point announcements for Steam, for those who are too lazy to read. How am I doing?

=p

As it stands how we are looking to rework the current page, pricing and benefits of donations. Sorry for the time taken but we want to make it a great value to our members.

I'd be in favor of extending the contest, for two reasons. One, because A/D ctf is getting a lot of flack with the current maps and some of us are taking to time re-think the design. And two, because the contest runs right into the start of the school year. I can't speak for everyone, but I know I won't be able to have any more 5+ hour hammer sessions once classes start in August.

the hammerbug has a fix available, just a few clicks after you start up hammer

other than that, the admins have a good feeling for if it is necessary to extend the deadline, it´s somewhat a mixture of amount of maps and the state they are in, like 2 weeks before the original deadline

for the payload-contest, the extension of the time was perfect and most of the map-makers were able to polish the maps up to a great beta/nearly-rc release

so, i rely on the wisdom of the all-mighty godmins to determine in time if an extension is necessary

Well, the fix should have been a big bold announcement. Lost a week to this thing. Haven't tried it yet, but if it works, I might have a first alpha of Eureka Dunes tomorrow.

FOV Distortion makes mapping near-impossible.

Oh thank god - I thought it was just my laptop melting.

I'm hoping it gets patched soon, I'm getting a little bit tired of waving my cursor back and forth between the perspective and camera viewports to see what I'm doing. :(

Edit: nvm, thanks Eerieone. :D

Restart steam, Valve fixed this earlier today.
