The Hunted for the Hunted Mod

This map is a remake/re-imagining of the "hunted" map from TFC. Unlike some TFC remakes that have tried to be direct ports of their Classic counterparts, The Hunted is embracing the 21st century and bringing "hunted" into the TF2 look and feel.

The map gamplay is very similar to classic Attack/Defend maps. The map goal is for the Blue team to safely make it through the map to the end capture area while avoiding the Red team. Thanks to the Hunted Mod, the Blue team must escort the Hunted - a single Engineer - to the capture zone. Only while the Hunted is present may the Blue team capture and win. If the Red team manages to kill the Hunted, they are awarded a point and everyone respawns.

This map is being worked on by myself, MrTwoVideoCards and Mr. Happy of Gear Dev. Right now we are probably 60-70% finished on the map. The layout and gameplay is completely finished, we are now in the process of detailing and refining everything, making it run smoothly, etc. We are play testing the latest versions regularly at the Hunted server at F7Lans.com, and we are hoping to release a public beta version in the next couple of weeks. Thanks to several F7Lans members, we are also play testing the map at Quakecon '08!

The Hunted is designed to be played with the Hunted Mod Plugin for SourceMod. If you are unfamiliar with this, go ahead and check out the plugin information right here (or in my signature).

Ahhh msleeper, you've actually made a map! Good stuff. Has the hunted mod changed much since I last played(a few months ago)?
Make sure you compile it properly when you do and make sure you do all of these but I'm sure you were going to anyway.
You know where you can get hold of me, don't forget to tell me when you're testing this!

It probably has, the actual plugin coding is pretty much done. I need to add one or two few minor things and it is complete.

Thanks for the tips too, I'll be sure we do things right when it comes compile time. And for the record as I said over at TWP, just because I haven't released anything to the public doesn't mean that I don't map or don't know what I'm doing!

Oh and, updated the first post with screens.

Anyhow loving the screenshots, its looking very good so far, got a little way to go before its on par with valves visually but I'm sure gameplay is great.

Of course, the map is far from done. As I said we are going to finish doing basic detailing and adding in health, ammo, etc. and release a beta to the public in the next couple weeks.

I had this idea yesterday, was about to start today. Looks like you beat me to it. :cursing:

The map looks great, alittle dark in the second and third pics, but that wont be such a big problem.

Nope, haven't heard of this person. I have done the principal design and some detailing, and MrTwoVideoCards and Mr. Happy are doing more detailing and optimization since they have more spare time than I do.

Theme is irregardless of gameplay and a mapper's personal choice. Desert looks to be doing fine. Best of luck to the team.

Well yeah, im just expressing my opinion...

Voogru runs a bunch of popular servers and wrote the entity rules for Hunted (limited classes etc).

He was looking for someone to work with, the map would get some great support on his servers.

Heres his profile: http://forums.tf2maps.net/member.php?u=637

I think you are mistaken, I wrote the Hunted plugin?

Either way thanks for the link, I looked at his posts and I'm not sure if he is still working on his version or not. This map is designed to be used with the Hunted plugin, and does not use any sort of Flag Capture tricks or anything.

Aah ok, I thought Voogru had done it.

Might be worth contacting him anyway.

Interiors are looking nice. The outside seems alright (i know it's not finished), but would perhaps benefit from exagerating the buildings, warping them to emphasise the TF2 theme. You wouldn't need to change the layout, i hope you know what i mean atleast. Reference the rooftops of dustbowl if you don't.

Thanks for the tips, we are deffinately going for a TF2 look and feel. The overall architecture of the map needs to be spruced up a bit and exagerrated as you said. The main building in the screens I am hesitant to change in terms of height, right now it is a perfect rocket-jump height by getting up onto the ledge and then the roof.

I think we might brighten the interiors up just a tad, but they appear darker in screens because of HDR and the whole "dark image in a bright forum" illusion. Fullscreen the dark ones to get a better feel for them.

Yea, that building height is fine, especially for rocket jumping; i was meaning more your easthetic buildings. Ones you might place as your map boundary and stuff. But you seem to have it under wraps :thumbup1:

I can see a nice pully system coming off that concrete extrusion in my mind on said building. :p

Your map is vip_hunted, or vip_bordercross? The latter is running on the F7 server.

Anyway, when do you plan on a public release of the map, maybe as a beta or RC, to widely test it in real settings?

vip_hunted is the Hunted remake. vip_bordercross is a very beta version of a Border1 re-imagining by the mapper 1/4 Life. We are going to hopefully do a beta release of Hunted in the near future, once we have completed principal detailing of the last area as well as the 3D skybox.

According to 1/4 Life, one of the modelers from Close Contact is going to be remodeling the Engineer to look like the civilian, as well as replacing the Wrench with an Umbrella.

Is there any place I can download a copy of vip_hunted.bsp? I don't know why you guys chose to never put a download up for it.

Some friends and I were gonna' edit the plugin to be compatible with TF2Classic and its Civilian class, but we don't have maps for it.
