Post title ranks?

I don't think the ceiling needs to be that high that it takes anything over a year to get the top rank...
If a person posts 10 posts a day for over a year on a mapping community site, that most people would believe he knows a thing or two about mapping and should probably have a high/highest rank.
Having unrealistically high post requirements only encourages unrealistically high amounts of posting, which will lead to people who answer "lol" to every post they see rating "guru" titles...
Also, Youme will never get the top rank... as long as he holds the "Official
TF2Maps.net Reviewer" Title :p

as the post titles are ONLY here for the posters..

please guys, share your ideas on what should be done, more times then not your opinion will result into an action from the site staff =)

after all, we run the community for "you"

Starts to think of a points system...raises his hand...quickly realizes all of the manual work that would have to go into such a system and puts his hand down...ashamed.

# 16-99 posts: L2 Apprentice
# 100-199 posts: L3 Junior Member
# 200-349 posts: L4 Member
# 350-499 posts: L5 Senior Member

# 700-999 posts: L7 Master Mapper

My Idea, and if possible every time a post is useful enough to be "thanked" it should be worth 10 towards your post count, but i doubt that change would be easy.
(and yes, I do realize that would do me NO benefit :p )

Nope that would be bad - some idiot would go make two acounts and thank his main one in every post with the new one.

How is that any different than just plain spamming? Both are obvious. I agree with the thanks thing though, I think they should have more weight than posts with the kind of titles in the bucket (posting a lot doesn't make you a guru, posting stuff you get thanked for means you know stuff and makes you a guru).
However, I don't really care much about it at all, and hardly ever look at all the little words near someone's avatar.

Doubt it, its easy to spot who thanks who and anyone could see there is some weird guy who seems to be stalker-ish-ly in love with someone else, and ban the stalker for the protection of the OP.

Anyway, Dox's idea of running on Thanks is a good idea, I was actually thinking that before I read the post (liar?). BTW, level 19 should be Super Special Awesome Deluxe Member. :)

Sorry for the ultra bump, but I just passed 1,300 posts so it should say Resident Expert right? But it only says Respected Expert. Did L9+ get cut or something?

Just a little nit pick.

(And yes I know this is a really big bump)

Wow I'm L12, an eloquent scribe :/

Try checking your custom title in your user CP PG, it might be something to do with the fact you're a donator and it doesnt update once you become one... but I've no idea really

If you care THAT much (yeah, i see the flurry of posts you just made) you're really quite pathetic. Deliberately trying to inflate your postcount is really lame.

Super-bump

Since we're having lots of these forum changes recently, could we revamp the post titles to something not lame? Like Polycount goes vertex, line, tri, quad etc, all modeling terms.

Like:

L1 Brush
L2 prop_static
L3 prop_dynamic
L4 prop_physics
L5 prop_physics_multiplayer
L6 info_player_teamspawn
L7 func_detail
L8 light
L9 light_spot
L10 light_environment
L11 point_overlay
L12 Cordon
L13 VMF
L14 VBSP.exe
L15 VVIS.exe
L16 VRAD.exe
L17 BSP
L18 HL2.exe

Or some other order or with different hammer related terms (I'm just throwing the idea out there)

It'd also be better to reshuffle the numbers since we have a bunch over 7k and no one is ever gunna get there since posts don't count in OT and the VIP lounge

In other super-happy-fun-time news, I plotted the statistical future of TF2Maps top posters:
