Reduit

Hi everyone,

I would like to present you my very first Map.
I've started this project late summer 2011 with the motivation
to learn more about Hammer, the SDK and Level Design in general.

To the map:

Pl_Reduit is inspired by the huge bunkers the Swiss Army built during the second World War in the Swiss Alps for the case of an attack of Germany. These Bunkers had huge artillery guns witch covered the most of the Middle Land. In Switzerland they say, our mountains have holes like a Swiss cheese.
In Pl_Reduit Blue starts in the top station of a rope way and tries to push the cart through the base of Red in to the Mountain and finally up to three huge Artillery guns. Underneath the guns is the ammunition's depot, witch will be blown up by the cart.

With the download, there are also my Release Notes (German and English).
In these Release Notes I go more in to detail, the design theory, known Bugs etc.

The PDF can also be seen here.
More screenshots can be found here.

As I said, this is my first project and I never really worked with Hammer before.
So i hope you guys can help me, testing this map and show me the mistakes I've sorely made.
I also want to thank TF2maps.net and the Community for the help you've already been to me (and hopefully will be)

also, i see you have a payload lift. why dont you enter this into the payload contest

Well thanks, I didnt know that there is a playload contest, ganna have a look at it.
About the performance, i dont have much experience what works and what not, all i can
say is, that on my old notebook i can play it on low settings.

Why is there intelligence in a payload map?

Ohhh, well...
good question i've never asked myself.

Well that room is not acceseble and actualy more decoration of the Blue spawn at the beginning.

Not to be a letdown, but since he's been working on it since "late summer 2011" would this map be allowed in the contest (which was announced Dec 29, 2011)?

Wonderful looking map! And I'm jealous of your lift because it's working and has sparks...

Edit: Walked around the map a little. Needs less trees. And it seems we might have a contender for the contest.

Maps have to be new to be entered in the contest, aka make the map after the contest was announced.

Also I really like the detailing in the map but however you do need to fix some very long sightlines.

Just wondering, you are consistently referring to "Playload" while the official gamemode is called "Payload" (without the 'l'). Is this intentional, because it looks confusing to me.

Anyways, map looks nice, I'll put it on the rotation of a LAN-party I'm organizing early next month :)

The detailing is lovely, particularly in that last screenshot. The mountainlab rock face texture in the first screenie looks really out of place though.

To the Map, may I ask you for a Demo, if you play the Map on that LAN,
that would be awsome and i realy need to see my map in action.
