On that wall on the left there, you might want to put in a couple metal patches or something to divide it up; right now it seems a little giant and plain.

This is a1, there should be by all mean be not as much detail as i've added already. But i tested a similar layout 3 years ago so i'm comfortable with CP's 1,2 and 3. I'll leave stuff like that until beta (unless i get bored).

BoyLee, i'm revisiting an old map i made 3 years ago which was a port from TFC: Avanti. I've progressed a lot since then and i'd like to apply my new knowledge, TF2's new content as well as custom content and see the difference between the project 3 years ago and my complete remake now.

cp_climb is temporary. I'll probably recycle my old project's name "avante".

As far as i'm aware there are 3 including mine and they are all old projects that play horribly because they are literal reincarnations of the original.

This one is not. I've taken the basic layout, re-scaled it for TF2 and modified paths for balance.

It's a homage to my second favourite TFC map more than anything. Many people said they didn't recognise the origianl as a port until they saw screen-for-screen captures. In fact i see that as a positive as literal ports like dustbowl ended up being horrible whilst "adaptations" like badlands became cream of the crop.

I might reconsider the name but it'll be a decision i make later. I want people to recognise it as a homage to a classic TFC map, and with the modifications to layout and game mode the name is the easiest way to make that connection for people.

that stack of three containers looks sooper dangerous, and a little silly
just right in the middle of a farm, BAM, a stack of three shipment containers

You mean random containers in the middle of a map like:

How do you think they ship hay and veg out of a farm? Certainly not in baskets by hand. I simply havn't added any overlays to the ground such as tire marks to suggest transportation of goods as the current displacements are temporary.

You can trust that any detail in a map made by me is not simply arbitrary; and these objects affect gameplay so they were added earlier than other details.

This is a little testbed for the rooftop map. Night would be a good theme but I'm not sure its striking enough. I'd go for daytime with the bottom of the buildings reaching into a fog/cloud texture but I'm godawful at texture creation
