Ignoring the guys accent...
What he discusses at the end of chapter 2 part 1 could be easily misinterpreted as such (a theory of life rather than a scientific documentary). I understand a lot of what is being defined here but then i have studied in physics and sociology. When you get the masses of internet dweebs from places like reddit who react based on their half baked knowledge; well lets just say that's exactly what this video is commenting on. Perception, influence, defensive mechanisms, society (at least the first chapter).
I can quote a phrase from 41:20, "our concept of it is nothing more than our perception of the change in observable values". We don't understand everything and we consciously or unconsciously become frustrated when we can't make heads or tails of it, and make reactions based on emotions and make conclusions that aren't always correct: Based only on the knowledge and understanding we possess at the time.
Some individuals are further up that ladder than others (through brain training or otherwise) and understanding our behaviour allows us to see past our ignorances and grow more as an entity, mastering our limited capacities, increasing that capacity. Simply by beeing self aware. (I have plenty of friends who are impulsive and frustrated about their lack of understanding of things around them IE other people, and what is discussed about denial makes perfect sense).
I've seen this in action many times so i can relate, and is yet another point of the video. Everything we do and think is based in relations and current understandings. If you cannot relate to this you will find it harder to digest. I feel that i understand the majority of what is being said after a single view, but then this is basically just a summary of someone elses research and for some people it can't be dumbed down enough, so they misinterpret it for something else.
The only thing that bothers me is his analogy of c, light, as a point of perception. But it helps the understanding of special relativity i guess.
TL;DR
It's confusing because it discusses 2 concepts simultaniously. It's 30 minutes of discussing perception in order to break/introduce a concept of time, distance and relativity. Then re-introduces the concept of the individual being affected by time through memory, perception of memory, and our lack of understanding about how we are as opposed to how we view ourselves as self aware entities.
Most people aren't getting that, though, and are taking it for something else; and raging over it.
