Hello. Its been a bit.
So I there I was, minding my own business, when out of NOWHERE 5 years had passed without me posting ANYTHING relating to this map. I have been on and off working on Brick Warehouse since 20 goddamn 20.
So this whole hiatus started in 2020 when I started work on an A16 of Brick Warehouse that was what most people would expect, little fixes and edits to make the map less bad to play when suddenly my laptop hard crashes and busts the GPU drivers. Being the... oh god 17 year old? that sucks to think about... anyway being the 17 year old I was I immediately panicked and reinstalled windows. first off that decision has haunted me for the past 5 years because it cause a stupid bottlenecking problem with the CPU and won't allow me to connect to Microsoft servers, Secondly that also wiped away any progress I made on A16.
Now at this point I wasn't having much fun with making maps for TF2, My previous updates for Warehouse and the last update for Shalewood didn't have very good reactions. It wasn't the feedback no the feedback was always helpful, It was how people talked and acted during gameplay demos that really disenchanted me with map making. People where audibly not having fun playing my maps and I can't really blame them. I was getting better at map making but I still was just updating the same 3 or so maps and their initial brush work (Brick Warehouse ESPECIALLY) was increasingly showing how bad their foundation really was.
So when I lost my progress for A16 I felt I was up to the task of completely remaking the map. It was also at this point I was getting into Mega Man and Mega Man Maker. I've never had too many friends that are into TF2, less so any who would want to consistently playtest my maps with me and give feedback. However when I got into Mega Man my other friends also got into it and played a fair amount of the numbered entries. Mega Man Maker however was what really spearheaded my Mega Man obsession as making levels in it is a far easier prospect than a TF2 map and only requires 1 person to play! I was able to make levels and my friends where able to play them quite well! And they liked them! They told me how faithful they felt to the originals and how they where really good for somebody who just started playing Mega Man!
Now this alone didn't kill my map making desires. At this point Mega Man Maker was just another outlet for my level making desires. That was until the bots hit... Once the bots took over casual I fell off TF2 almost completly. This gave me full attention to Mega Man Maker while Brick Warehouse only got the scraps...
This leads to today. Its been 5 years and the remake of Stage 1 is nearing completion! all that I need to do now is lightng and placing health and ammo. To commemorate both these milestones (well I'm like a few months off of 5 years but whatever) I'm posting the Pre-A1 version of Brick Warehouse, when it was still called Brick Building! To be honest this was going to be released on the actual 5th anniversary of the map but I was so lazy I didn't want to take pictures at the time. (I also got worried about if it broke the rules to do this but idc anymore)
This version predates A1 by only a few hours but it still has a few changes! The preview was ment for a server I used to play on with a person I don't have contact with anymore who owned it.
