I agree with steve; use a blendmodulate if you absolutely must use the same disp for the roof and the gravel. If not, just place the gravel disp below the ceiling and stick it through.

I am starting to think this looks stupid unless done really really well and I don't want to do it at all in Hella

Floor grating- in fact, all floor decoration- is best as minimal as possible. In red's spawn room on atoll i had grates in the floor with nothing underneath, and i still think i overdid it.
