I don't have anything against it going free to play and I am not exactly known for constantly praising the game

I do not like this idea because only people who pay deserve to play my high-quality maps

/sarcasm if you really didn't fucking get it

You shouldn't be paying that much for a bundle of weapons, I mean it's 2 new games...

I... think I'm going to be staying away from gaming sites for a while. Even the good ones. This is bound to get ugly. In fact, if I didn't play exclusively on our servers, I'd probably stay away from the game itself because, ironically, all the people screaming constantly over mic chat about how the game is RUINED FOREVER are going to make it completely unbearable for a while.

You couldn't even if you wanted to. Content servers went down, item servers are down... it's a wonder the clients got their game updated but ultimately it doesn't even matter because there are bugger all operational servers (that aren't already full). The best you can hope for is to idle in a listen server and hope the item server back tracks you.

There are a few things that are pissing me off about this update:
a. You're planning to release the game for free to presumably a shit ton of new players. Why oh WHY hasn't the server infrastructure been reinforced? Ridiculous that nobody can trade or craft or ANYTHING just because the same number of cs:s players that play everyday have logged onto tf2
b. Holy fuck, were these recipes pulled out of someone's ass? Refined everywhere!
c. I'm one of the players willing to shell out a little bit of $ to receive the weapons right away. I did it for the last few updates with few regrets (thought purchased weapons should be craftable) Why the fuck were all the items so overpriced? 99$ for the whole set and that's on sale? Even polycount was much cheaper (50) Microtransactions should be more micro, I never got the pricing on the mann store : /

I dont really care either way, though i am enjoying the slight defensiveness with which everyone is saying they dont mind. Interesting how i, and, seemingly everyone else, expected the default setting to be RAEG.

"What do you think of this?"

"It's cool."

"Wait... yeah, it's good"

"I like it."

"Well, i like it too!"

I think that was a mistake they fixed. All I see are reclaimed metals in all the new recipes.

But, still, 8 Jarates for the Solemn Vow? Is it a joke I just don't get? Does the Medic distill it and use the crystallized urea to sculpt the bust? Is it because urine was used as mouthwash in ancient Greece? Is it supposed to piss us off nyuk nyuk nyuk?

My greatest concern is how the ultimate goal of any video game company is to either make a game that sells, or one that attracts people enough to buy the next game. No matter how much work is put into a game to make it play better, there's still the overlying motivation to SELL. I'm worried that because there's no more reason to attract more players and make any money, there would be no reason to put effort into expanding TF2 more than it has been. So this would lead Valve to accelerate the story; revealing the mysterious Mann photo character, meet the pyro, the ultimate goal of the administrator and her ancestors... these will just be dumped out, last update, kk GG lets make another game.

Though maybe they will continue putting effort into TF2 because of profit from the Mann Co Store. Since items are now their only method of profit from TF2 anymore, I'm guessing that the huge surge of new players earns them more off the store than from selling copies of the game itself.
