I do, however question your decision to avoid testing with bots. I don't see why its a bad thing...

Because you have to make choices based on your knowledge rather than what you see from a test.

Its a bit worse for me: I have a portfolio for two classes due next friday, and I expect to get most of it done this weekend

Agreed. Tests happen once a year, and define your life. Maps are lets just say...less important.
Tell that to those who work at valve.
