I was just curious if anybody here knows how to improve the accuracy of your aim with the spy revolver. I've searched the net and can't find jack. I've got most of the other stuff down but I don't seem to have a very good shot with the revolver, and I've seen other spy's that can't seem to miss at all, they hit anything and everything, even on the move. I put my crosshairs on the target but still not working that great. So what is the secret to having great aim with that damn revolver?

    Thanks

umm...use it? alot? thats my "secret" anyways...

At midrange the spread is low enough that the shot should go where you aim it...so...yeah...

pretty much all hitscan weapons should work about the same...so if you can aim with other weapons the revolver shouldn't be a problem

I'll give that training map a try. Also, one other thing that has sparked my interest. I've seen some spy's uncloak fully and stab ultra fast, faster then I can even uncloak. That just seems odd to me.

It should also be noted that the first shot from the revolver is 100% accurate.

The revolver is as accurate as it is. You can only aim better, you can't make it more accurate.

The ambassador is slightly more accurate than the revolver, even when fired at full speed, but only by ~10%. (I have all the screenshots and details in some Steam thread somewhere.)

That training map is kick butt. Thanks.

Now what about that super fast uncloak. Is that a script or something or is there a trick to uncloaking fast? I always thought it was just the same speed no matter what.

Never seen that. It may just be that it always seems slower (both from a technical and psychological level) when you're the one waiting to be able to stab.

The first shot is 100% accurate like all pistols. I can't really give you any tips on aiming as it's just trial and error and makes me wish their were some sort of hit indication in this game.

There was an update one time ago, they changed the spread algorithm.

you now get 100% accuracy (sniper rifle accurate)
-When it is the first shot from a clip.
-When you havent fired a bullet in 1.25 seconds (this on is important)
This exludes rapidfire weapons like the minigun and also shotgun.

So if you want to hit your target, dont hold down you mouse button, wait a second between each shot

i think the different watches have different uncloak speeds, the dead ringer for example is horribly slow uncloaking, and i think the CnD is just a fraction slower than standard watch

I think the ultra-fast cloacking speed is a false perception of what is happening. Imagine the spy stabs you and immediately after he cloaks. The delay between the server and you computer will make the time look a little shorter on your end and, if you were not expecting it, you will be a little shoked. The whole event will go a to a little different speed in your mind, making you think the cloaking time was shorter.

    But those are crazy assumptions

@martijntje: In that update, the shotgun was changed and it will always land at least one pellet in the middle of the crosshair

On a side note, if you want to practice headshots in that training map, spawn bots for headshot training or the heads will not always match with the head's hitbox.

Doesn't do anything except making you a smaller target.

Make your crosshair bright green and increase your viewmodel FoV. Makes it a lot easier to "snap" aim at something with relative accuracy.

But TF2 doesnt have such a crosshair, and weapons always have the same accuracy, whether you are crouching, jumping or running.

I find if you fire with the confidence and expectation of a hit, it hits, if you're worried it wont, then you don't.

    Odd but true. Seemingly.

Heh, that's why I find the crouching spies with ambassadors always rather... silly.

From what I remember the falloff damage is pretty severe, but that's balanced by the fact that close range is key. There's times when I've "missed" a backstab and I'll just pull out the revolver and just open fire. That gun is really meant for close/medium range, and two shots from there can take down nearly an low heath class. Unless your using the ambassador (and even with it) I've found that trying to hit far away targets with the revolver has just been futile.

I've been training on that map and it has helped. It's so cool you can control all those different options. I recently saw a video of a spy who would get somebody to chase him and he would go up a flight of stairs, and as they gave chase, he would jump into the air back over top of them and backstab them in the back of the head as they were going up the stairs. Brilliant. I've been working on that for a few hours now.

    :)
