the only problem with buffing the shovel is it gives the soldier an unfair advantage with no unlocks. a better idea would be to make 2 different versions of the equalizer. One would be the equalizer of speed, and would give a speed buff similar to the current equalizer, but at >100 hp would actually slow the soldier down when out. then, if a person crafted the speed equalizer alone then it would turn into the damage equalizer which would to what the current equalizer does but without the speed buff

The equalizer could do damage and the speed weapon could be a white flag.

Perhaps Valve could make it so that the equalizer takes time to accelerate you, so that when you pull it out you move at regular speed and gradually build up to your new one.

I'd be more happy if the equaliser lost its damage bonus but got a speed of attack bonus.

It's kinda annoying seeing a soldeir self damage then rome around a map like a spy that can backstab from any direction with the speed of a scout. Having a soldier hide in a corner to one-hit a recently spawned individual is shameful to watch, and annoying to experience.

I honestly thought, at first, that the Equalizer started at 1 dmg fully-healed, and then ramped up 1:1 with the damage you've taken.

Probably would be more balanced this way.
