Need A Smallish Map Built - Payment Negotiable

Hallo, I know I'm new to the forums, but finding it has been a boon, as I need a smallish map built for a personal project.

Before discussing my needs, we'll talk a little turkey. I have a budget, but I won't give a range here, because I want to pay as little as possible, hence the negotiable part. That being said, I'm not offering $20 or a beer or something. The lowest I will pay for quality work is $100. I pay via paypal only, no trickery involved in my transactions. I've hired artists before, and can give at least one payment reference if you like.

Now then. What I need is fairly simple. I need a circular room built like a soundstage for a late night talk show. I'll need a desk with a sofa on one side, and a blank flatscreen monitor prop on the other. These will be on a portion of the wall. Further down the wall, past the sofa should be a stage with a drumset prop. Doesn't need to do anything, just need to be able to animate a puppet behind it. A couple mic stands wouldn't hurt either. Further along the curved wall I need a few rows of seats for an audience. Further along the wall, I need another stage, like the first, but this one without any props at all. The other side of the empty stage will complete the circle at the monitor beside the desk.

Obviously this isn't for in game use, I plan on using it for SFM. The style shall be cartoony in the TF2 or FIM styles.

If anybody is interested, please let me know. :)

I don't see the need to make a request for a map maker to do this professionally, especially for a simple SFM video. You can probably get away with just making the geometry of the stage and adding some chairs, and you should be able to put in everything else into the map with SFM, and that's even better, because you can animate it. There are a bunch of props available for download.

You may not see the need, but I do. Set making is far from my skill set. Besides, I don't mind spending money on work done when I can't really hack it myself. :)

I still don't think it's worth 100 dollars for an SFM video.

You don't get a say in it. He's offering money because he wants a good product and a say in the design process, and because he recognizes that quality work should never be done for free. This is how commissions work.

Kudos to JimmyBones for handling this professionally and offering compensation. Best of luck with your project, I hope you find someone who'll work to your expectations. :)

Okay, because god forbid I speak an opinion.

But seriously, what I mean is, I don't think that making an SFM video is worth putting 100 dollars, but while your right it is his call, that in no way shape or form was meant to be an insult, and I know how commissions work.

Look, 100 bucks is a lot of money, and if that's how he wants to spend it, fine. Your money, your choice. All I meant was I wouldn't do the same.

I understand what you mean, I really do, but this is nothing compared to what I paid for my company logo. Much like that logo, this isn't going to be a one time use thing.

$100 might be a lot to you, but it's actually very little for quality professional work. I personally value my work highly. If you don't, that's fine, but if you find someone that accepts work for lower than that then they're usually not going to put a good job in (if they do, they should be charging a lot more).

OP wants a high quality SFM set, and for paying the money he's going to get it, more so than some random doing it for 2 hours when they're bored.

Alright, I wanted to formally apologize for how I reacted to this request.

I personally didn't know that this was a professional-level place until this event occurred, it wasn't said anywhere that I can personally remember, so I thought this was simply a place for people to collaborate in a common hobby. This sort of adds a new dimension to this place.

BTW: Earkem, while I understand what you were trying to say, I still feel you might have been a bit rash on your response. So I hope you understand why I was upset now.
