Why would you want to go there? they have horrible social security, if you go broke you're pretty much out on the street and on your own.

All of the social security money will be gone in 5 years, and there will be 4 retirees for every one worker. Great job baby boomers, we really needed your old fart asses to retire...

Not really, they die pretty quick either way.
Besides, that's why people are being coerced into retiring later, rather than sooner. And it's only for the people who are broke, you know.

AFAIK that's not accurate. They're sitting on a pile of money, but the pile of money stops getting bigger in 5 years and begins to shrink. Sure, it's great to get a fix in early so that you can let whatever-it-is compound usefully over time, but it'll still be a decade or two before the pile is gone.

Terr, you forgot to mention that a couple of decades is more than enough for the general majority of retirees to die off, especially the ones that rely on social security. Besides, it means less people dying on the street, and at least SOME of those people (if not most) actually get a job and rejoin the workforce. That's 20 years of growing up and going to school that someone doesn't have to do to fill that job, or do something or other that makes more jobs and gets money and the economy going and BLAH BLAH BLAH.
