What was wrong with my upload?
I did everything correct.
One .zip file with the .bsp in it.

And you're very picky Youme; You shouldn't call us pathetic just because something was slightly wrong

This is a belittling statement that does nothing to promote tighter bonds in a community. You owe your entrants an apology.
Whilst I might sound quite harsh but my statement is purely fact - 6 people, none of which managed to follow the simple instructions I laid out.

I'm currently battling the imense dissapointment thats arisen from so few entries out of all the potentials (made worse by the poor instruction following skills) and I'm wondering if there is much of a 'community' at all. :(
There was no shortage of enthusisasm about this contest, and yet so few entries???

But whats already happened is done and I've assembled all the entries into one file and have spoken to DP to get it uploaded and it should be up soon, after which point all is forgiven in terms of inconsistant file packing.

Ahh that you did, my appologies, your entry was flawless so I do indeed owe you an appology.

Perhaps during your battle you might look inside yourself and try to figure out what inspired you to call people pathetic and refuse to apologize.

Did I ever call anyone pathetic? go back and look at what I said. Commenting on the quality of entries is not commenting on the people themselves.
We can discuss this all day long but the more you act stern and try to tell me off for sounding harsh the less sincere any appologie I might give will appear.

I'm going to put an end to this particular discussion. While I share the disappointment for lack of entries, I have to go w/ Schwa on this one. Youme's comments were rather inappropriate, especially for a moderator. There are more polite ways to express your displeasure ;) With that in mind, everyone makes mistakes, so I hope there are no hard feelings. We currently have some fine-looking payload maps running on the server, and they can't judge themselves :)

Schwa, I still don't know why you didn't submit swift as an entry. Makes me a sad panda :(

I think this contest has been the most difficult and demanding--and the longest lasting? I believe the interest was lost a long time ago. Asking people to spend a lot of time on a project that is for most people a hobby is quite a bit to ask. Not everyone has the free time to devote to such a demanding project. I won't even begin to calculate the time I spent on my entry, and I was only able to work so hard because I was on winter break from school.

I don't think anyone started working for this contest thinking they weren't going to finish, I'm sure everyone had good intentions, but the plain fact is we were asked to do for free, what individuals at Valve software get paid to do. A whole payload map, made better than or equal to pl_badwater? In a month and a half? It's pretty demanding, and I think our entrants should be congratulated for their devotion to the contest, for finishing it out, even if their entries could use more time.

This contest is over and someone has won it, yes? If so, I think the winner should get a news thing on the front page - and a sticky at the top of this forum or a subforum with all the winners and a place to download the winning entries (separate from the DL of all entries) would be GREAT.

if I'm right immortsl D already announced a winner, whilst i can't remember which won (been on holiday since it was put up) if you go look at the voting thread you can see mangy's excell spreadsheet with all the votes and its got the grand totals for each map.

You're right...sort of and that makes the answer to my first question yes :)

In case you had forgotten, we had this little thing called a Payload Contest not long ago ;) Well the judge's votes are in, and we have an official winner. Though I think everyone who participated wins here, since this was not an easy contest. All of the authors get my personal kudos for their time and effort. Alas, [highlander] there can be only 1! [/highlander] (prize that is) http://forums.tf2maps.net/showpost.php?p=52444&postcount=99

*Technically* he announced there was an official winner but didn't say who either. Based on my interpretation of the spreadsheet, it looks like cashworks...but I'm sticking with:

It'd be awesome for the winner to have one of the fancy flash-articles on the front page

and

It'd be cool if there was some contest-winners subforum (like on top maybe of the Contest #x: sub forums) called Contest Winners: will a locked thread for each contest with a little/article type thing about the contest with the winner at the top and a screenshot (when appropriate) of the winning entry. And 2 different links to downloads, one "Winning Payload contest entry PL_Cashworks" and "all payload contest entries".

Alternatively, just slap all teh contest #5 stuff into a sub forum Contest #5: Payload Map sub forum to match the rest and put a contest winner thread sticky at the top of each of those sub forums.

I mean, when you click this link: http://forums.tf2maps.net/forumdisplay.php?f=36
shouldn't you see a thread: ***Texture contest winner*** at the top?

It should be easy for guests and newer members like myself to find out the winners and winning entries for theses contests....like, barely smart enough to use the internet easy to find.

I'd have to agree with GrimGriz, for all the fanfare of the payload contest, it kind of just ended without... well, anything. Just faded off into the darkness, in a way.

You're right, I'll make sure it gets a proper fanfare when I've got a bit of time tomorrow, if another mod would like to do it before me though, feel free.
