Did you see these?

Very unobtrusive, they practically blend into any map - I thought for a moment I hadn't got any posters in halfacre until I remembered I made these.

Just to say I won't join the compo, I don't have time to finish it and it will probably take me 3 more months.

Not sure what you have planned; but for the map voting, please don't start the voting right after all the maps have been uploaded.
Give it some time so we and others can try all the maps before voting :)
Otherwise people will probably only vote for the map with the best looks.

"Edit (03/12/08): Contest extended until 00:00 (GMT) on the 15th January 2009, thats an extra 14 days to cram pack your map full of awesomeness"

silly question, but does that mean the end of thursday or the begginning?
i'm never 100% sure which 00:00 falls under

"Since the beginning of the contest the method of voting has been thrown into question, a new solution is being devised"

That is awkward...

No offense, but I'm going to pass. I love TF2maps.net and a few key people have been very helpful, but overall the "competition" part of the contest feels weird. Fortunately it has produced some quality results and I wish all the mappers the best of luck.

I cant wait for a new contest, so I can actually do something that can contribute to something or someone. :)

No, you are being offensive. What the hell do you think this is, a fascist website? We came up with the new voting rules in the mapping chatroom, as public as it can get for this website. Yall think that a magic solution could come about as to how this contest would be graded, but someone HAS to do it. Stop hissyfitting over the details in the grading procedure... it's going to be a blast for everyone to test these out and see the results come in for each map. It'll be fun- not some ultra-tense competition.

I was just responding with the information at hand. I try to hit up the chat room as often as I can, but missed the conference. The quote was taken from the thread Youme linked, which I assumed was the "official" word. In it, he did not make it clear how the contest would be judged.

If you are offended because an potential entrant is wary when the rules aren't clearly defined than you should re-calibrate your meter.

The rules have been clearly stated from the beginning. The voting procedure has changed to be more fair. We're doing this as a community- not as some tiered system where the admins are evil. I'm offended that you offered up no solutions to the problem, instead criticizing what we all came up with in chat. Where is your entry? Did you really drop out just because of this? Remember the due date is TOMORROW. Were you really prepared to submit, had the grading been more clear?

I criticized nothing. Youme linked to the "official" submission thread which did not have any mention of the procedure by which maps would be evaluated. This felt awkward and I wasn't comfortable with it so I stated my reason and politely and moved on.

TF2Maps has been a valuable resource and tool for me, and I appreciate the efforts of everyone involved. I expect the contest to be fun and admire the quality of work that has been produced.

I'm disappointed that you are offended and have misread me. I like TF2maps and wish everyone here the best.

You do a fine job here Mangy. And again, TF2Maps is the best damn Source Mapping resource in the internet.
