Is KOTH fun?

I've been at Quakecon, and all the people here got screwed BAD. Valve released the update, the convention blocked the update port (steam), so NOBODY could play TF2 at ALL! I understand the bandwith required, but it just really sucks that this brand-spanking-new update came out, and I can't touch it, much less play tf2 until I get back to Houston from Dallas tomorrow

Now, to the reason I posted this thread: is KOTH a fun game mode?

That's pretty impressive. I'm honestly surprised at how well it's done. I personally love Viaduct and Nucleus as KOTH. I never really got to play Nucleus as arena, but the circular layout really intrigued me. It works really well for KOTH.

Overtime has to be one of my favs, but overall, I'm really surprised at how well KOTH works. I've even seen quite a few SGs and Engys that appeared to be having fun, despite the 3 minute timer reallllly limiting the usefulness of it.

It is a ton of fun, I think by far Nucleus is the best KOTH map that they released. Viaduct is fun but I think it is way to easy to defend the hill once a team takes it.

I love KOTH. I prefer quick caps though compared to the lengthy ones in Viaduct.

I've always found KOTH too spammy for my tastes.

Small maps work well in arena because the number of players swiftly drops after the first few minutes. In KOTH the winner is normally the team that can spam the middle point the best.

Yes! However, like all modes its not the mode that is fun but the map that play's to the modes strengths that makes the mode fun.

Yeah. KotH has the potential to be fun, but it requires balanced teams, and a map where it's easy to take the point back and forth.

And like supertoaster said, it can be spammy. Viaduct is a spammy map. I'm hoping some of our brilliant mappers can make KotH maps with twice the point-capturing and half the spam.
