Hey, I can't upload any of my avatars cause they are "too large", and I mean by "" that my pictures are 20 kb at 100x75! It's very small!

It's hard to find a picture that looks well for 75x75 or 15 kb, so please increase it a little bit, like 100 x 100 and 50 kb, it shouldn't be a problem with the community we nowadays have.

Hoe exactly do you get a bigger avatar anyways? I see people rolling around here with ones that are much much bigger than 75x75. Does it link in with your rank?

Yes, people in charge and sponsers get a bigger limit. Other people who are beyond the limit had their avatar set before a limit change (either from the original settings way back, or before their sponsorship ran out)

I was actually contemplating making a post like this. I can (grudgingly) deal with the 75x75 15kb avatar limit (though I think 100x100 25kb is more reasonable), but the 150 character limit in signatures - including code? That's pretty extreme as it means I barely have enough room for what I already have.

I moderate forums on another gaming site that has some tight restrictions about signature size to reduce forum clutter so I completely understand things from that angle. I think a better solution to reducing forum clutter, however, is not a character limit but a total image size limit (ie. combined, all the images in a sig cannot be larger than 300x50) combined with a lines limit (ie. no more than 2 returns). These two restrictions keep images contained to a reasonable amount of space and prevent extra text from becoming more prominent and taking up more vertical space than an actual post. The restrictions also allow forum users a bit more freedom to be expressive, post links to their work or important info, and otherwise have some fun with their sigs.

Those are just my suggestions, of course. I obviously don't know exactly where you guys are coming from as far as the reasoning behind the current restrictions, so my solutions might be completely incompatible with what you have in mind.

Seems very reasonable to me. But again, I'm just a L1. Lol. I don't have say in much in anything. At least your a couple levels higher than I. But this doesn't take up much room, and only allowing 2 returns would only make it at the most as big as an ad that in on the page in between the posts.

^---That image right there is just under 1kb, so I would say having it 600px × 50px and 20kb would be prefect in case someone wants to add a little more detail to it.

As for avatars.. that was a feature designed to allow those who participate a lot/donate to the forums a reward. As there's not much else for them other than blogs and access to a secret forum (that no one posts in).

I'm not sure what the admins would say to this but you might want to have posted this at the front desk.

The suggestions I posted earlier regarding signature image size were to help deal with unnecessary clutter. Of course, if the signature image size is larger than that already that's fine, but if the link to that image is of a good size good luck fitting anything else worthwhile in your sig. I'd actually like to make an image link in my sig, but the sheer size of the link to the image and the external link would go way beyond the 150 character limit. That's what bugs me - I can't even make a single simple image link without the limit getting in the way.

Hmmm... So i was wondering if "maybe" the moderators of the site could take a second look at the custom avatar size from 15kb to maybe 25kb in size? 15kb basically means it's gonna like close to shit if it's a nice quality picture. I made a png to upload as my avatar but it def. looks a lot worse one it was uploaded. So I'm figuring it got converted or something. So I made a jpg of the same image and it was double the size. Just throwing this out there one more time hoping to get some results. Lol. Cause idk about you, but even without donating(cause i'm strapped on cash atm) you should still at least be able to have a semi-decent looking avatar. Maybe not in pixel size, but at least quality. Hmm? =)
