Does Java work in the MOTD?

Planning on putting one of those advertisement videos in my MOTD to help pay for server costs, and it seems I'm going to need Java in order for it to run. Does Java work in the MOTD?

Java or javascript.

Java is for applications (which can be embedded in a web page), javascript is what all modern websites use for functionality.

I doubt what you want needs java, and I don't believe that would work anyway. Javascript may work alright. But either way that sounds like a horrible thing to do, since I imagine I am not alone in thinking I would immediately leave any such server if I joined it.

I think he's gotten the idea off the Valve servers. The valve servers run youtube video's through the motd. Presumably to pay for server costs. Since they're not taking subscriptions Blizzard style.

I would so do that if I could get an 18+ server up and running. But, that's later on.

Exactly, and I've several servers with advertisement videos(They're not Youtube) in their MOTD.
