A really stupid and shitty weapon.
Not even a MARKSMAN can hit the target, as the ball being EXTREMELY INACCURATE.

I'm pretty bad at aimng with other weapons, but as Sniper I aim pretty good with the Sniper rifle.

It's because the Sniper Rifle is a hitscan weapon. Let's consider that the Flare Gun (example) is a projectile, and due to that, having to travel in the air, you have to predict the enemy movements. So, you have to aim where he is going to be, instead of directly aming at him.

The black box has always needed some reworking. The soldier's main weakness is dealing self-damage in close proximity. It's a medium to long range class. The self-heal completely negates that weakness and it doesn't matter if you glancing blow someone for 1hp you still get the full 15HP heal which promotes spam and ruins the skill ceiling completely.

If i want a boring game with a high performance i use the BB, especially in CTF games. If i want a challenging, interesting game i use the other launchers, DH, LL, default.

It's mostly situational. For example: you say the razorback is useless; but in a game with multiple snipers picking off a point and a spy in the base, it will make the difference between getting 1-hit killed, and standing a chance at surviving due to the razorback saving your life and alerting team mates that a spy tried to BS you with it's noise.
There are a few balance issues with weapons, but mostly each weapon is effective in it's own niche.

As for favourites, though, I love to play a Kritz/Blut/Ubersaw loadout on pub servers. If I'm playing medic in a highlander team, I'll normally go Kritz/Blut or Crusader/Solemn Vow and call the best kill order.

Razorback doesn't make a slightest bit of a difference because any decent spy will just shoot you.

You make a fair point, but at least you stand a chance of killing a spy in a gunfight, when you don't stand a chance of countering a backstab (assuming you don't know there's a spy nearby).
Perhaps it wasn't the best example, but you see what I'm trying to get at anyhow. :blushing:

You stand much better chance in gunfight against a spy with SMG or Jarate, that Razorback replaces.

Any half-decent Spy will see your stab shield and just headshot you with the Amby for 102 damage, and follow that up with a bodyshot to finish you off, so the Razorback isn't going to help you win any gun fights. You'd be dead as soon as you knew he was there.

I like to use the Razorback with the Huntsman so I still have a chance at close-mid range combat against smarter spies.

Then again, I more often use Jarate instead.

Yeah, there's no defending the razorback. If a sniper is scoped it takes 2-3 shots from any Spy gun to kill him instantly. When I do this, the sniper rarely moves or even notices, and then I usually mock them for using a shit weapon.

Shooting a Razorback Sniper takes longer than backstabbing and moving on. It breaks chainstabs too.

The point is not to keep the Sniper alive. The point is to slow the Spy down and make him not even bother killing the Sniper. If you don't see the enemy Spy around as Razorback Sniper that's the Razorback in action. I think it's that lack of rewarding action that makes people think it never works.

It counters knife unlocks: YER loses its disguise by shooting and doesn't get one from you, Big Earner doesn't get extra cloak, and the Kunai doesn't get healing.

It's also a nice safety net for new/casual Snipers that just want to focus on practicing their aim without worrying about Spies. Gets rid of a lot of the stress new Snipers sometimes have.

Yeah it's somewhat bad for high level players but it has an okay niche. Keep in mind buffing it is difficult because it's a passive bonus to sniper rifles (which really don't need to be made stronger).

It being on the weak side is good design - an item hard countering the class meant to counter you is an awful idea. It's only a soft counter because it stops backstabs but not shooting. Can you imagine if a Spy was unable to shoot a Sniper just for wearing the Razorback? Nobody would ever want that.

Oh and a last thing: If the Spy ever gets a Primary that doesn't shoot/do damage the Razorback will be all over the place

I like to backstab Razorback Snipers just to see if I can get away with it. Maybe 40% of the time, I do.


My favorite weapon is the Homewrecker; Seeing an enemy Engineer haul and deploy his level 3 sentry, then rushing in like a madman while it constructs and trying to break it is.. Nowhere near as frequently useful a tactic as those made possible by the Axtinguisher, Powerjack or Backscratcher, but it's hell of a lot more entertaining. Well, the whole sapper removal thing occasionally comes in handy, too, but the bumrushing is really my main reason for using it.

My least favorite is probably the Machina. It encourages bodyshots, is one of the most visually unfitting weapons in the game, and it shoots obnoxious-looking tracers.



Also.. Silver815, why the poop do you use the Backburner with the Axtinguisher? They have terrible synergy; The BB's bonus is made redundant by the Axtinguisher, essentially making it a nerfed Stock Flamethrower. The Degreaser, on the other hand, is practically tailor-made to work well with the Axtinguisher.

Well, I have very different loadouts. I use the Homewrecker on defense or support, and Powerjack on attack. Ambushing is for Back Scratcher.
The Homewreck allows me to keep teles, sentries and dispensers alives, or kill them quickly. Using Stock, it is like the Spy-Hater loadout.
The Powerjack allows me to survive more, at the cost of some fire power. Degreaser is the best when I'm playing normally, and the bonus from the set is just as seducting as a hot girl.
And the Back Scrather... It is just as good as a regeneration for a Backburner-Ambushing Pyro.
Secondary... Flare Gun. It simply overwhelms the Shotgun. It allows the pyro to be deadly at long range, and mortal at close. The difference between this and the shotgun at close range is 20 damage. At long range, you gain 87 damage. The numbers don't lie.

I simply hate the Wrangler. C'mon, unless you're in Nucleus or you are in an open area, it sucks. Reason? Your Sentry Gun has better aim than you. But the fact that you cannot kill it without 6 stickies is just annoying. Even deactivated, it still has the shield. That would be the thing I would remove.

The only time i've ever been annoyed by a razorback is when a decent sniper is being defending by a level 3 sentry and losing the disguise is essentially suicide. But then the crits from the embassador which negate damage falloff kinda completely negate the sniper's range advantage and the spy's range disadvantage.

It's true that snipers barely manage to unscope before being taken down by a revolver (/alt). But literally the only time i've ever seen the razorback perform a life saving role is in the afore-mentioned "guarded by a level 3 sentry" circumstance at map bulwark positions like 2fort's entrance. As it's the only time anything can really consistantly interupt a spy during the split second interval of shots short of an "in progress" spycheck.

Whilst the razorback might not be considered 100% useless, it's still true that every other alternative weapon provides a more versatile and strong combat option. Basically what i'm saying is something doesn't need to be pointless to be redundant, but because of its redundancy people do consider it pointless.

@Grazr: Even in that situation, though, unless the spy is using the YER, the Razorback is still useless, as stabbing the Sniper would mean you got taken out by the Sentry anyway. (With YER, though, you'd re disguise on a non-razorback sniper. On a Razorback sniper, you'd die.)
