May I ask how the maps would be judged? Would it be judged by how well the themes be implemented into the map? Does the amount of detail and varied gameplay improve your score?

Nothing is set in stone currently but maps will be judged on mainly gameplay, aesthetic, technical (any bugs / work-arounds) and use of the themes separately, then combined into a total score.

Prizes

First place:
1 draw (first pick) from The Prize Pool
A Mapper's Medallion (should you not already have one)

Second place:
1 draw (second pick) from The Prize Pool
A Mapper's Medallion (should you not already have one)

Third place:
1 draw (third pick) from The Prize Pool
A Mapper's Medallion (should you not already have one)

Quick question: Is there any possible reward for participants? I'm not saying something from the prize pool, but more along the lines of like an in game badge. This question was mostly driven by curiosity.

No; we discussed this but decided not to do so. This does not mean no contest outside of the 72hr will have a medal but it's unlikely, especially for participation.

Alright, just checking. Thank you for answering my question!

I've finally pushed my map into RC3 for the contest. It's gone through so many iterations, and I hope it's as good as I hope it is!

At this point I don't think it's likely that I'll be able to release a polished map by the deadline, so I'd like to volunteer for judging @Berry

I'll be in touch in the next few days as we amass the judging team if we require you, thanks. :)

What does finished mean?
Does it just mean its in a playable state and does not use dev textures or anything and is pretty much fully detailed.
I created a map and id say for a beginning mapper it is pretty well made, but I do plan on adding content in the future and farther detailing as I learn more about hammer editor. Would saying the map is work in progress contradict the rule that the map has to be finished and submitted or does this have to be the final build?

If dont think you can absolutely finish everything, try to gather whatever you have and package as nicely as you can. While a rc state map is most ideal, you might not be able to make it.
Also note that this contest asks you to make a map based on specific theme so you should at least try to detail to at least let the theme visible.

I can't believe it took me until today to realize that this contest ends on National Pot Day.

Hi guys, I'm back here for help. Can somebody tell me how to change the texture of an existing model? I've been searching the Internet for a long time and trying to improvise, but everything turned out to be in vain, so I hope you don't lose this message and help me with my problem. Thank you in advance.

Best if you ask this in the 'Mapping Questions & Discussions'. My solution was to copy the model into Blender, change the material name to my custom one, then compile it as a new model. Very important to look at tutorials and follow closely.
