Why is the shading on it in the second image so... hard? Especially on the support pillar.

the middle of the room on there needs a smaller support column in my opinion. no way glass windows can support all that weight.

The tower feels a tad out of place.. I can't put my finger on why though. It's probably just that sudden change in detailing- The foresty theme with a red brick/wood/metal structure and then suddenly clean white concrete and a massive lookout tower with a 360o glass window view. It's just feels clashy.

It's pretty much exactly the same but actually worse in Mountain Lab so I don't know that I care, honestly, about how quickly it progresses

Well whatever floats your boat. I agree with peng about the glass not being able to support all that concrete though. Maybe add some small concrete breaks in the glass so the top looks better supported.

Other than that keep at it. Maybe when the area's done it'll blend better.

I am jealous of your sicknasty prodigious rooves, tom

yyler the transition's fine, that shit happens IRL, but it needs to be marked via a displacement transition too I think; add another tier of displacements between the dirt and that first concrete platform, then create a blendmat for that dirt to the concrete and make sure they line up nice. IMHFO that is

edit: just saw your previous iteration. I think the fatter tower looked a lot better, was just too tall maybe. The greater use of that red/grey large brick material helped the transition as well

Tom, I see that you have accidentally mixed the two nearly-identical light gray cinderblock textures in your screenshot. concretewall002 has its bump map disabled for some ungodly reason; concretewall002a does not and thus correctly matches the striped and grimy-edged ones when lit. It's also misaligned relative to the striped one below.

Funny thing is, I was recently flying around Hydro to look at the lighting, and it has the exact same mistakes in it.

Cool, it's nothing???

Tom, looks good to me, but throw some stains up for good measure. Don't forget snow on the other roofs, icicles, and assorted overlays.

The problem is that the room makes little sense at the moment. Any player who questions his surroundings will quickly have any immersion broken completely, because he/she will fail to find a reason for the room.
As an artist, you wanna make sure you keep your public immersed in what you do. Make a reason the room looks like that, or change it into something that CAN be reasoned for :)

If you look at the 2fort intel rooms, there is a huge inaccessible room just outside it. This gives the room some kind of overwatch function, meaning that the room now offers an actual purpose, making the level more believeable!
