Are you old enough to remember the group's history?

Just a bit of nostalgia, as I am inclined to do from time to time. Lets see how many old-timers are still here.

What was the special software we used for the chat room?
Who were the very first moderators?
Who won our original mapping contest?

Now lets see you think of some stuff :)

1. chat logger bot run by paul? Dunno if this is what you're referring to.
2. drp, paul, djive and you?
3. youme with cp_bloodstained?
(highlight to see better..)

I'm very unsure about all the answers since I was actually several months late to join the site.

I think I'm "old enough" to know these, shame I don't know if I remember... :p

I'll give it a try and answer without looking.

What was the special software we used for the chat room? We had a chat logger bot that sat there and recorded the chat, at least.
Who were the very first moderators? Ahh, this is tough. I know the very first were drpepper, ID and DJive, but the regular moderators are blurry to me. I think ryodoan was a mod pretty early on...
Who won our original mapping contest? Wasn't that Youme with cp_bloodstained? Or am I just remembering that because I liked the map for some reason...? lol

Well I don't think I remember as well as I should, but those were good times. I fondly remember my first days mapping in February 2008. And I remember the night I spent hours trying to finish up my map, building cubemaps and all :)o) so I could get it in the monthly gameday. Standards were high back then. :p Good times indeed.

I really don't remember/know any of that

But I like to think of myself as old, simply because many of the new faces don't know me because of my long abscence.

Ravidge and Randdalf are the closest. We did in fact have a chat logger for the Steam Group, and Youme won our first contest by default. Mangy was the clear winner, but the TF2 Editor was still very new, and he had a persistent server-crashing bug in his map :( As for the first mods, I'm not surprised nobody knows. Drpepper and I created this group, we started off as the original admins. This was long before we had a general staff, and the two mods I brought on were Paul and Dox.

What I remember most fondly to this day (read: will haunt my nightmares forever), is the original Gamedays. 5-8 hour affairs once or twice per week, always Friday and Saturday. Needing to manually make bzips and upload to both the main server and the redirect, then messing w/ maplists so I wouldn't have to sit in for the entire session. Good times :)

I remember when the maps section was just another section of the forum... no formatting. I don't know how we got along fine with that. I remember before blogs and the "Thanks" system as well.
