..That is a prop in 3ds max. I just can't be bothered making my own wood texture and the only dark wood without seams; the construction wood, looks bad on it.

Don't like it, I'm a fan of a good old fashioned CLI.
Probably a good idea, especially if you insist your textures all get scaled using NICE (which for unknown reasons is not an option in VTFEdit).

TGA is pretty commonly used among modelers :v

.dds is prefered, it offers more flexibility from what I've seen. TGA is still valid thought, I see a lot of games use this for example to make skybox textures, sun overlays ... mostly on 2d plane
