What particle effects do you often find yourself wishing for?

Recently I have been wanting to create particles that are geared towards use in mapping
Except I have one little problem - I have no clue what I should make/what is the most useful for mappers

So just as the title says, tell me all about the times when you had to disappoint your inner Michael Bay after not finding proper particles
I would also like to know how easy it is for mappers to set control points for particles. Since that could open up a possibility for one size fits all particles

RC+ and I are collaborating on a mvm map for the contest, that could use custom particle effects. Our map involves moving robot carriers (yes, the big blue things move), and some dust particles would be nice. I am thinking dust kicked up by the treads, mad max style. The ground will be a desert canyon of undetermined texture, If you are interested, ask and I can give you more info. (you would also count as a collaborator for the contest)

A particle I would love is a very nice windy, blizzardy snow effect, as my map is based around a building on a frozen mountain top, but func_precipitation doesn't seem to want to work and it doesn't seem to be spawning enough particles anyway.

What about the cp_coldfront/pl_snowycoast snow storm particles system? Is that not snowy enough for your tastes?

Grab either the coldfront or snowycoast vmf from the decompiled map thread, and look for the particle emitter for the name and how to set it up. I don't remember exactly where it is in coldfront other than "somewhere around mid in the out of bounds area," but if you grab the original snowycoast vmf from the downloads section, there's big blue skip brushes around the emitters to make them easier to position.

Would you be talking about env_snow_light_001?

I am not sure whether to use the snowycoast snow or the snowfront snow: env_snow_stormfront_001

Stormfront is the one I was thinking of (stormfront was Icarus' working name for coldfront), the other should be a thick but lightly falling snow.

How would you describe the coldfront snow?
