Asking a question is not misbehaviour.
The whole point of forums like these is to ask questions that have already been answered somewhere else, many times before.
Every time some new level designer comes in and says "Help, I'm in trouble" and they post their compile log and there is some obvious problem, do people rip their head off and say they were "misbehaving" when the answer was already written in the Valve SDK?
I sure don't. I just point out an obvious problem and its solution.
As a matter of fact, asking a question like this to the community - even though you could look up the answer somewhere - is a way to try to break the ice. It's a way to try to be friendly. It allows conversation to be broached.
The whole issue with the submission was an honest mistake. This site is very confusing. I didn't even spot the contest entries thread for Artpass. It wasn't even where I assumed most threads were - you had to go to Map Database first. I was looking all the time in the Forums section. But, in principle, I did not cheat or take extra time. I was in early. Anyway, I made an argument on technicalities to ZQP and he allowed the entry.
But I guess, even though ZQP has allowed me that, some people in this community will never forget that. And because of that it makes me open season to be the "bad guy", and they get to dump on me.
In olden times many villages would often have a "sanctioned scapegoat" - that guy on the edge of town who was a loner - or he made a mistake some time or whatever - so the others though that it was then "okay" for everyone to dump their shit on him. It made them feel good about themselves to vent their bad feelings on someone. If you are looking to turn me into that guy in the "TF2 Maps Village", forget it. I'll just quit all this TF2 mapping stuff.
Then you'll have won nothing, but you'll have lost a potential friend and a good mapper.
So you just let me know.
