Vote for next community map on SPUF

Look nobody in the competitive community reads the steam forums or tf2maps forums. These forums mainly consist of the worst type of public players (generally to whine about hats or suggest weird unlocks)

Due to this without a topic like "vote for gullywash" the competetive community would have it's voice unheard. That's probably also what happened when all previous community maps were chosen. Almost every single map was aimed at public play.

Wether you like it or not the competetive scene have (for the most part) embraced these maps and thus will vote for them. Even without a topic that encourages voting for a specific map and only mentioning there is a topic would have probably yielded the same results.

Anyway you guys at tf2maps are very sceptical about the opinions of the competetive scene when it boils down to map design and you shouldn't be. You should respect the opinion of others wether you agree with them or not.

I have nor will ask people to vote for my map but i can't keep them from doing it themselves. Same as you will vote for maps that are made by people you like or because it looks pretty but has horrible fps because your criteria lie elsewhere. (exaggerating to prove a point)

I don't see a problem with it, after all, the UK General Election had all those people stranded outside polling stations before they closed - it could have been a bit different in some places. Ultimately, there's only so many people from the comp scene who will vote, and as the poll garners more attention it will even out. At the moment however, it's not entirely indicative of what the community as a whole wants - but it will even out over time. Additionally, not all of the competitive community may want obscure or gullywash to be made official.

I don't think it matters. It's not like Valve HAS to include the winner. If the map isn't up to their standards, they won't take it.

I do think that coldfront has a real chance. Lots of votes, and it's a quite beautiful map. Haven't played on it with others yet, but it looks very promising.

Yeah Icarus let me know where they were coming from. I hate sites that do that. people have no respect.

Anyhow, votes are votes, I'll just let robin know when I email him that the figures are skewed

You should look at server stats/other websites along with the etf2l forum to see how much support there has been for certain maps.

The results are not skewed in the slightest, and here's the funny thing YM, Robin will know if they are skewed or not for a fact :) Can't mention why tho =)

As someone else mentioned, if the map whichever map it is, is not up to valve standards then even if it is in the top 5 or 1st or whatever it won't make it either way.

I'd continue doing your tally on steam forums though, would be interesting to see the tally now :)

To be fair, it's skewed in the first place, simply because it's on the Steam Powered Forums, and it will always be newer maps. Gullywash and Obscure are fantastic maps, don't see why they shouldn't be up at the top.

I hope coldfront wins, but obscure is very fun as well.
Whatever, we can still play these maps even if they don't win...
or was this just a popularity contest?

Pretty much :p

In the end, I doubt it will make a difference what map actually gets picked.

That's how they all are, interesting to see what gets voted for but not really much use in getting the maps.

You know, it would be nice if you posted links to the maps, or pictures of themselves, so we can see them. Otherwise, everyone will only vote for the maps they have played on.

God forbid people would only vote for maps they've played...

No. If your map loses, Valve shoots you and your map is erased from the internet.
