Hey,

I've just published a whole bunch of improvements to http://www.tf2items.com/. Most notably, you can now create an account and find other players to trade with. Because the site knows what items players have, you can be sure the players you have found to trade with actually have the items they say they do.

Here are some shots of what the new trading stuff looks like:

Obviously since trading isn't actually in the game yet, you won't be able to do any actual trading. It will still help you find people to trade with for when trading is released.

I'm really interested in community input, so be sure to post your comments or ideas.

@booj So they can rage at you, and make some sort of detection when you try to join one of their servers and perm ban you.

Lol, I checked to see what people would want for my Brigade Helm (didn't intend to trade it, just wanted to check), and I got a friend request less than a minute later.

I almost want player-to-player trading to not come, just so I can laugh at everyone.

A part of me wants the trading system to never happen. I can imagine people selling their hats for real money or players spamming servers looking for a specific hat trade.

The other part of me wants to trade my soldier's stash for a pyro's beanie

I kinda dont want it either, but at the same time i am looking for a soldier stash and have a pyro beanie. Never play pyro, and soli is my main class.

I agree with the folks commenting on not wanting a trading system... spam, people paying real cash for hats, etc.

However at the same time I would like to see something like that, mostly since I've got a few friends who I just wanna give one of my three sniper yellow belts too. :/

I already have some request for my hat :p

If valve implements trading, there will be a very good reason for tf2 players to use it

10:11 PM - Nineaxis: how soon can we expect to see the new demo tools you talked about in that interview with commfortress?
10:11 PM - Robin: hopefully this year
10:12 PM - Nineaxis: that'd be good
10:14 PM - Nineaxis: ...dare I ask about trading?
10:15 PM - Robin: about the same

So we'll be getting trading around March or April 2010.

Well it looks like you need a hat to trade a hat, so so far it looks like dosh is not too much of a concern in terms of this new function being abused.
