Agreed that this would be nice as an engi weapon, not as a tenth playable class. Also, note "your application is pending" and "we will evaluate your invention". "Evaluate" in Valvean means "playtest over and over until it's perfected, otherwise scrap it". At least since Sandman.

The only thing i could think would be an Engineer weapon/related thingy. Definitely not a playable class. Valve is not that stupid.

Hurm.

Edit:

Well that adds a clue to the next crossword, at least.

'to much up the dogs'
what does that even mean?
If you mean:
It's really mucked up unless the make something for the other classes to fight the dogs
Then please say so.

AND EDIT YOUR FIRST POST, DO NOT MAKE ANOTHER ONE!

I sincerely hope it's all an elaborate joke. Think of the animal cruelty complaints! :(

I lost a pet recently so I would find it very painful emotionally to even consider going head-to-head TF2-style with a dog like that, even if it is only in a cartoony-looking game world. Heck, I wasn't even willing to play as Heavy for a while after being mugged on the street in May just because of the trauma of being punched to the ground by a stranger (Heavy's fists and all that).

It's one thing to see burly cartoon men blowing each other up. But to see burly cartoon men blowing innocent dogs up ... I wouldn't be surprised to wake up and find TF2 (Valve too, even) dead, smashed overnight by animal rights complaints (which I would not consider totally unjustified).

Dogs instead of sentries, and his name is changed to "Dogtrainer/Engineer". For real the entire huarddog website is something Valve made, to make it look like someone else made it

It's a stupid idea.
I hate it.

Earth To Valve: Yes, the blog post was funny, but you need to dumb it down for the yahoos in the forums.

Ex. "It's a very well-made fake update but we have no plans to add a 10th class at this time."

Viola.

Maybe it's intentional. Perhaps Valve has a PR policy of encouraging the most rampant speculation and mouthfrothing in their playerbase.

Unfortunately it seems the population is too large for "speculation fatigue" to make everybody stop at once.

It would be fun to see all-dog melees, and groin sniffing taunts... but this is honestly a feature I would rather not see in TF2.

Cat grenades, however...

Cute fluffy kitten gibs. And replace "Your Spleen!" with "Snuggles" and "Your Foot" with "Mopsy" etc. So whenever you explode an enemy, they turn into a bunch of cute little kittens and yarnballs.

Valve needs to post a disclaimer. I don't even WANT to see what the steam forums are doing right now.

*snip dog-killing talk*

Yeah, I figure that might be a problem.

Of course, robotic dogs, on the other hand... Probably a bit cheaper to maintain, and they can be mass-produced on the assembly line. You don't have to train them, just upload instructions.

Might work as a sentry replacement. You drop a central "stake" somewhere, and the robodog can wander around up to a specific distance from it.

Maybe have it pick up any loose weapons it finds in the radius, and drop them off at the stake, to act as a mini-dispenser? It'd be like a Roomba with guns.
