That poor heavy.

The heavy had a hard enough time getting around with spies and snipers. Let alone in general if he wasn't being bummed by a medic. The direct hit kills a heavy in 3 hits and these super melee weapons for the demo and soldier seem to be becoming a major pain in the backside for him.

Playing today and i realised that anytime someone went heavy they got absolutely decimated.

Heavies are a decent uber, particularly against great numbers of people or dense sentry nests if he can get in there. But I don't even play heavy and i feel sorry for him. Played well he can still be a valuable member of a team, but given the circumstances even a good heavy player can get killed more easily than any other class player of a decent skill level.

Any one else think that the heavy needs something to keep him at the same level as the other classes?

I'm not even talking about the update. I'm talking about how he's out classed/weaponed by most classes. Atleast before the update he was sorta balanced with soldier, demo had a burst damage advantage, but heh. The new weapons floor the Heavy, regardless of how many of a particular class are on the the field.

cry some more.

Everybody is playing only soldier and demoman now, just wait for it to blow over

Wow dude don't need to come out so harsh. I think grazr has a valid point which is that the heavy will definately be much more reliant on a medic, seeing as he would have to dodge million-mile-an-hour rockets and (imo annoying as hell) eyelander/equalizer demos/soldiers. At the same time, I really do hope this will blow over, because I am SO DONE with getting spammed at by these terrible soldiers/demos.

I think the Heavy could use some other new weapons. The weapons the heavy received weren't as good as the soldier and demoman got now. D:

I still think the Heavy needs a Charging Targe more than anyone.

The Heavy was given the most unimaginative unlocks compared to the most recent updates. Natasha was broken for at least half a year and is still a complete waste of time. Hardly anybody uses it because it's trade-off is simply not good enough for anybody who wants to help their team by killing the enemies. Then there's the Sandvich which was pretty poor up until September THIS YEAR.

If that's not bad enough, every update since the Heavy's brought some anti-Heavy unlocks. The FaN, Sandman, Huntsman, and (possibly) Direct Hit; They all make dinner of his slow speed, poor combat abilities and inability to retreat.

It's so sad that every class can kill him with ease. Scouts can circle-strafe and jump around like crazy making use of the minigun's poor damage spread; Soldiers and Demos can pop in and out of corners and just spam the poor guy before he can even retreat; Pyros can airblast him at close-range then hit him with the axetinguisher whilst escaping with more than enough health to survive for a while longer; Hell, even medics can kill him depending on their distance using the blutsauger by exploiting the miniguns awful damage falloff.

What really annoys me is that Valve said that they were going to re-evaluate the Heavy but, so far, the only evidence of this is the GRU. This will make the journey to the frontline quicker - great! - but this is not his biggest flaw. It's the poor damage falloff on the minigun, the spin-up/down time AND the delay between switching weapons that make the Heavy all but helpless in the majority of situations unless he has a medic permanently attached to his backside.

I'm really disappointed in Valve on the issue of the Heavy. I was in hope of some changes this update. /me sighs

That's funny. I had my best round ever with heavy last night. Plenty of noobs to feed Sascha.

I agree. As a half-ass decent heavy myself, these unlocks are woosie. URGUNNANEEDMUCHBEEGARGUNZ.

Really, I had 46 kills without dieing when I had everyone charging at me (no medic either.) I finally died to a crit eyelander, that shit hurts.

Demos with sword = heavy fodder

I had a good time killing them (until the soldier came)

Nix the airblast bit; Doing that vs a heavy gets your ass killed.

I switched to Natasha simply because being on the wrong end of one means death for me, I find the inability to escape very frustrating. I don't have nearly as much luck firing it though.
I have to agree that the Heavy seriously and badly needs a leg up with all these updates. Since I started playing, the Heavy went from one of the most popular classes (and my favourite) to a class which, on my servers, is virtually never played, and as has been previously stated, switching to Heavy is pretty much suicidal if you don't have a medic glued to you.
And I have bad luck with medics.

So nobody noticed the Minigun buff? It's really good and basically gives the Heavy twice the range he had before.

Now the cone is far more narrow and more bullets are fired per second. Just listen to it or look at the tracers.

As an average Heavy player myself that uses it on every good Heavy map on 6v6 I think everything now comes down to this:

Can the Heavy kill one soldier fast enough now so as to prevent one missile from being fired?

I think that valve subconsciously despises the heavy, because he is, in essence, a class for those just new to the game. By constrast, valve seems to think that spy is incredibly hard to play, and as such is constantly buffing him. Now I'm not going to say that one is harder to play than the other, the heavy requires many split-second decision making skills and a cool head, but the heavy is possibly the simplest class to play. And valve really doesn't want something like that to be played constantly by everyone. Imagine if the hl2 smg had been slightly accurate? If valve could add another dimension to the heavy somehow, I'm sure they would give him better unlocks.
