Oh boy, 3 contests at once. This is going to get interesting.
This is bloody genius
welp time to get back into mapping
The grid has too much of the same square types. Too much day vs night and symmetrical and assimmetrical, even though there are multiple options possible that although are somewhat similar in freedom are actualy more in variety:
For day, night you can include as alternatives: sunset, dusk
For symmetrical and asymmetrical you can set some gamemodes that feature a similar aspect: Control points, CTF, Payload, payload race.
And you could also put some objective oriented squares into a potential group of 5 instead of always only allowing 1. If it makes a set more strict in gamemode its not a problem. The following would still be fine:
Linear 5cp, Day, 1 cp in spytech, 1cp on bridge, japan
And also, egypt is missing as theme entirely (and yes, this can be combined with spytech! already did that in mvm_giza at the spawn)
Egypt = desert
Egypt = ruins/temple
best game ever! "you went yellow? you win!"
i'm kinda confused for what this is
We specifically did not want to include gamemodes for the fact that it would create very hard restrictions on what you could do with given themes. We didn't want to include intermediate lighting choices as it creates a lot of ambiguity and doesn't have immediate "I know what this is" for people looking at the chart.
For what we were aiming for, that combination you have spelled out is precisely what we don't want to do. We don't want that much specificity - we would like people to have freedom to choose what they'd like to structure their map as, with only vague bounds.
This isn't supposed to be a chart of every possible combination in tf2, just a selection of some to encourage creative freedom within certain bounds. Hopefully you understand.
And yes, as stated above, egypt can always be included as a desert or ruins map. The guidelines do not restrict you from doing additional concepts.
It's a contest. Make a map fitting the rules and you might win a prize.
Lets do dis.
Question: would a star fort count as a castle? I think it should after reading the google doc, but asking to be sure.
Also link to wikipedia article about star forts (for context): https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bastion_fort
Welp... time to break out the trains... Oh boy.
Yup... I'm doing that one too... It's time for trains to rule the snowy daytime alpine symmetrical... um... thing. I guess
I have a question. Are we allowed to use gameplay logic templates? Like a KotH control point or a train?
Yes, previously made prefabs (logic templates, lighting prefabs) are allowed. The actual map must be made in the constraints of the contest though.
Separate names with a comma.
