Hey guys, i just switched over to a laptop running Windows 7 from my desktop that had Windows XP, and for some reason the Print Screen button doesn't work in game? I dunno, i tried searching the web for results, but no one really had an answer.
So how do you guys take screenshots of your maps if you are using Windows 7?

If you're using Prnt Scrn to take screenshots in a Valve game (or most games for that matter) you're dumb. Majority of games have a screenshot button. Like above, in console, type 'bind F5 jpeg' and hit F5 whenever you want to take a screenshot. Then go to ...\team fortress 2\tf\screenshots and do what you want with them.

And the only reason you're typing that is because by default the game takes screens as targa files.

Are there other formats you can make it use, like png? Jpeg s so lossy.

png is an awful format for screenshots.

What's wrong with using Targa files? F5 is the screenshot button by default, but if it's not you can type bind f5 screenshot in console, or even do it in your options menu

I have F5 bound to jpeg because I can't submit TARGA to the Internets, who cares about how lossy they are.

Go to the console and type
Code:
bind F5 jpeg
Then you can use the F5 key to create screenshots that you can upload to places. They get stored in the \tf\screenshots directory.
Thank you

It's just what I have been doing since I was 10 and playing other games like Red Alert 2 and Halo CE(which I don't think had screenshot buttons), and then I just saved them wherever I wanted.

Also, does anyone know if it is possible to change the directory of where my screenshots are saved? for example if I just wanted them saved to my desktop?

You could probably write a script or something to automatically place the screenshots on your desktop, but that's silly. Just have a shortcut to tf/screenshots on your desktop.

Also I think you can change the quality to 100 somehow but I forget exactly what the trick is

jpeg quality 100
