Photoshop vs. GIMP?

Hmm, this is a hard one for me. I dont do much image editing, and I have started to try and distance myself from.... eh.... "alternate means" of acquiring software. At work I use GIMP for obvious reasons, but on my personal computers it depends on what I am doing. If it is just a simple stuff, like a 1 off resize, then it will be GIMP, but if I am going to be doing a batch job then Photoshop. Or if I am going to be doing an intensive edit, then probably photoshop.
