    Hello all... Again...

    https://maps.google.com/?ll=33.753559,-118.238297&spn=0.001449,0.002064&t=h&z=20

I'm working on a map in a dock area. What I've got is pretty awesome using the construction map pack and it's crane, but if you tour the map above of Long Beach CA and the Los Angeles harbor you'll see some things I'd love for a skybox.

    1. Tractor-semi-trailer combination vehicles - like this one http://www.trucktrend.com/roadtests/performance/163_0402_2004_truck_pictures/photo_01.html This is actually two models - the tractor and the trailer so you can cantor them at an angle. If a flatback trailer is used the existing shipping crate models could be combined with them.
    2. Shipping cranes.
    3. Shipping fork trucks (There's a white one in the dock link above)

Anything else maritime related that you fancy building would be appreciated.

    1. flatbed semi truck (compatible with the TF2 shipping containers). There's also a truck in the BulletCrops Project linked below.
    2. Due to there massive size you might be better off making it with brushwork (though honestly I don't know anything about Hammer).
    3. You mean a forklift? Here's one.

Also, here's the BulletCrops Project which is filled with maritime theme props.

    Hope these help.

Already using two of those (well, the skybox version). And that is good enough for now but if you look in the photograph a shipping crane looks quite different than a construction crane and is more specialized.

I think Granary, Upward, and 2Fort have a shipping crane in the background. The crane is probably a tiny model though, since it's made for the background.

You could easily make a shipping crane with brushes, and then func_detail it.

Sorry for posting again, but here's a really cool map, which has a similar theme as yours and comes with many custom props that might come in handy.

Why would you want to simulate being in Long Beach?

I'm building a map in a 60's era dock. The Long Beach facility was built in the 50's - much of the equipment and practices haven't changed too much visually over the years. But I'm not targeting Long Beach specifically any more than Sawmill is a representation of a specific sawmill or Well is a specific trainyard or the like.

So, objects and structures seen in Long Beach might show up in the skybox, but it won't be accurate to Long Beach.

I've never cared for Vig's texturing. I don't know what he uses or what look he thinks he's reproducing, but it's not Team Fortress 2's.
